id like to bring up a point a here. the piece of metal should be formed to the countor of the door instead of using body filler. once you have shaped the metal then weld it in. grind the welds. when done correctly itll be so smooth you wont need body filler.
I saw the exact same job on Trucks a couple weeks ago. Nice job
And yes the patch should’ve been curved to match as articzap mentioned
it was partially curved BUT to fab metal in with no filler is really really hard… if you can do it then wow to you but that is a skill thats terribly hard.
 i always use dura glass when shavng handles them a skim layer of icing. wont crack .
and i see you modled your bumper in. did you use t04 or plastic bond? see alot of people do that with rivets or screws and they crack after a month or so.,.
fabbing metal without the use of any filler requires you to weld with either an o/a torch, or a tig welder
you would also have to cutthe handle flange off the door, have a perfect gap betwen the door and patch, and a VERY good weld
leave the metal finishing for the pros … the day AFTER you can fix a crease in a door with no filler is the day you can attempt to weld a patch like this in w/o any filler, as the job would require very good knowledge of how to stretch and shink a panel without using a torch
 nice writeup, good work!
I’m just saying the “correct” way is to curve the metal by putting through a sort of curved press. But since none (or mostly none) of us have all of these tools, we use what we can… and in your case you did a great job.
that press is usualy refered to either as “your knee” or “a log”
much less setup work, much cheaper, results turn out just as good
lol
you can get hammers and dollys cheap, or borrow them from me. they work a little better. lol
yes, i have hammers, dollies and spoons alread, ive made hammer forms before, and i have tucking forks coming also …
no need to borrow from others
i dont get what you mean…but my car is about about 1in off the ground…i built my self a ramp mad out of 2x10 in wood it cost me like $40 and it works sweet…you dont even have to jack it up drive up the ramp and vola all done. if you plan on molding it i suggest getting some brackets and supports for the front…if you can juggly it then it will crack that my theory.
