NExt is the part we all hate to do… grind the paint away… take a grinder with a 36 grit or so disc and grind the paint away so you can get a nice weld down…
Now that you have done that… tac the metal into place. once tacked… weld till the metal is sealed… make sure to do small sections and blot with cold damp rag to prevent warpage on your door panel.
Make sure to wear protective gear while welding… those sparks can hurt
Next step is the grind the raised metal from the weld down and grind off any rust. once this is done coat the area with a thin amount of body filler… if it takes more then just a little then make sure to get fiberstrand body filler.
very nice work, will be interested to see the final product with the poppers in and such. to DIY
o and GL with the polding of the bodykit to the body seamless. alot of people dont mount the bumpers rigidly enough and sometimes the kit itself isnt think enough/have enough layers to be rigid and the work cracks. i like the idea of the fender flares as well
Very nice write up…My car has this done already and a few friends helped with repair and install of the existing solenoids…one of the coolest things and def. makes for a clean look…very nice lude…what color are you planning to go with or just a recoat of the new work in the kawi green?
Nice DIY I have my handles shaved looks amazing the door popper are sweet. And for molding your body kit I recommand some supporting bracket to stiffin up the body kit. I have mines molded and it has held up to a lot of punishment except when I hit a curb at like 35mph. But if done right you won’t have to worry about it crackin under regular driving condition
^ stupid person that did the Shaved doors on my car (CN Stars) Need to take that class my doors are in mybasment being sanded down (litteraly one Inch of Bondo) and redone the bondo started cracking and rust formed underneath on the door skin now I have to sand it all down prep the metel. for now I use stock doors alth in the witer Shaved doors suck.
well it is suported but its actually not gettin molded… i glassed it then bondo to smooth it out but the thing is i dont want the impracticality of not being able to jack my car up since its an inch off the ground… air ride is out of the question… and so i moldle the bumpers… then take a peice of maskin tape stright and cut with a cutting wheel stright… now u have staight body lines and no gaiping cracks or canyons between ur bumper and car… it actually is a smart thing to do
