Do you think diesel is worth it anymore?

funny I got diesel yesterday for 4.35… and 4.40 for 93 for the evo… thinking the TDI is better at this point.

I got diesel for $4.12. Still cost $145 to fill it though… every week.

wtf?where?

Its red, and its from the rez.

Ah gotcha.

Don’t get caught!

are you running that straight?

yes.

1mpg better than delta on avg. I’ve saved enough to cover the fine.

I figure I would never get cought in the car… but alot of places wont let you pump straight into a car…

^^^^ im confused at what your guys are doin thats not “allowed”

Offroad only fuel. For heavy equipment…no road tax.

ya its died red or purple and if they find the die in your tank or lines you get a nasty fine… the usually only check big rigs during truck inspections…

the diesel is for off road like tractors (it was to help struggaling farmers)

do you need like a permit to buy it?

nope. nothing special to buy just don’t get cought with it in your gas tank… they usually require you to put it in containers.

lol… niceeeeeeeeee…

Well you learn something new every day.

i have always wondered why Diesel is so damn expensive compared to regular gasoline. just saw this thread and havent done research so dont slam me too hard but seriously. Isnt it cheaper to produce?

Also a Diesel vehicle can be tuned to be economical at normal operating demands and than tuned for higher load demands. True with every vehicle granted, but with the older mechanical diesel pumps(the ones mounted on the engine) all it takes is a turn of an easily accessible screw. The newer gen VW’s and a shit load of others are now and have been for a while electronically controlled.Again they can be tuned but you actually need software and hardware and all that shit.

Also Im too lazy to look it up so if you want to try and disprove this than go ahead and look for the article yourselves.

I believe it was a BMW 5 or 7 series diesel that Beat the Prius in a MPG comparison. Wasnt by much but considering what you get with a bimmer and than compare that to a fagus. I mean prius, the difference is day and night.

As far as reliability is concerned a well maintained diesel will outlast a well maintained gas motor any day of the week.

One down fall I have witnessed is that a diesel will run on anything that burns. Thats great news actually. Except for when your buddy’s TD galant decides to start feeding off of the leaky ass turbo seal and rev uncontrollably until it throws a rod through the block. (hah, never seen a mofo run so fast)

Nope.

I did this with my dads duramax.

I didn’t know any better and i’m like “dad, i filled your truck up for you, it was sweet because I went to this pump that said off-road only, and it was like 20 cents cheaper a gallon, I drove in the grass for good messure.”

He replyed with “you mother fucker, I have to get warranty work done to this!”

If you filled it with offroad you’re lucky it didn’t pop. Don’t the new DMAXs need the ultra low sulfur?

this was a 06  this also was 2 yrs ago
