Yet another loose cannon thread on a forum that potentially destroys a reputation before the truth is fully displayed. I talked with Catesby and William this week but didnt get into details as to why Sharif wasnt here. Reading this last night/this morn sheds potential light to that. Shit does happen, i dont care who you are or how good tou may be. Threads like this kill businesses and despite Sharifs capabilities and any future compensation for this customer its going to be a major uphill battle for FP to overcome this… If customers have a problem with a shop and worked performed it should remain between that customer and said shop until its settled in either direction.
I credit Ryan and the guys at Top Speed as well for keeping any known information regarding this incident behind doors here at the one lap this eek and just focusing on the event. Doug and Leh just did their thing and the rest of their crew dropped in at Talladega during the sessions there. Great bunch of guys there at TSM…
As a shop owner for many years here i do my best to not critique other shops work despite my opinions on the matter as everyone has their own ways of doing things. Its just not a good idea to get into it unless a car owner is asking for your input directly and for good reason
Thats a rather blanket statement. Also, shit happens. These are mechanical devices we work with. The way its handled when issues come up establish the true outcome of the job. The customer flying off the deep end knowing people would blindly swing right along isn’t fair to the shop either. No matter how much $ is spent, mistakes will happen, it MUST be accepted on both parties when that happens. But to answer your question. If I had the money and didnt want to build it myself different decisions would have been made along the lines. From a customer standpoint his explanation of how it went down, HE made a few mistakes along the way that DIRECTLY contributed to the “hacked up” results.
One example… the steering knuckle, bell housing grinding, 02 sensor placement, etc related to the poor fitting turbo manifold/turbo because it wasn’t a LHD car. It was told to the customer it didn’t fit right and would need work. Me knowing how to build this shit would ask specific questions: What doesn’t fit and why. What plans do you have to make it work? Things like that, that he didnt say were discussed. Its then MY/the customers responsibility to accept the facts and what needs to be done. Again, if it were my money/car I would say no send that shit back, or make me one that fits right. But he didn’t he was impatient and wanted it now.
All I am saying is the more vague the expectations are from a customer standpoint that are translated to the shop… the grey line gets much wider and project agreements are lost considerably.
Soooo what’s worse? This guy who spent $250k at a shop and had shoddy work done on HIS vehicle voicing his opinion on the internet, or The time you (a shop owner) was trashing another local bodyshop on here?
Normally i would agree with mike but if you read the thread about another giys g37 that is posted right below the owner of forged really dicked that vuy hard intentionally. In that case it certainly seems like the customer was very clear about what he wanted amd caught sharifs fuck up when it could have been fixed but the guy still fucked up his car royally.
He spent a quater of a million dollars on work. Shit shouldnt happen in this case. With the money that guy spent if i was the owner of that business and let stuff go like that i would be ashamed of myself. As benny said, this isnt an 89 fox with a 5.3 crammed in it with a monster huffer. They fucked him and they sang can a ***** get a table dance everytime they swiped his credit card. Maybe its just me but like i said, if i was spending or had a customer spending that cash there wouldnt be any shit happens at all.
I never said it shouldn’t, but rather that this type of dispute should remain between the shop owner and the customer until it’s either resolved in his favor, or the shop fails/bails on the customer in all aspects and then and only then should whatever means to an end be posted. Clearly not the case here at the moment. 2nd part, dumb question to be asking me…
I’m staying out of the rest of this as I have too many friends/acquaintances on both sides of this directly in the mix of things…
Looks to me the customer did the right thing. After almost 2 years of Bullshit he went public with it. I know i wouldnt of been that patient. The only thing he can really do now is warn others of this companies poor quality and ethics. I just dont see how the customer is at fault at all here. Regardless if he changed his mind 17 times, they still took all of his money and did a poor job.

as in any other situation, if your not happy with the results people do a internet review. are food reviews any different? if you buy a steak for $60 and hate it, would you discuss it with the owner first before making the review?
this case is a bit extreme and yes we dont know all the details but fucking A man!!! $250k spent and the job looks like that? first off why in earth is this cholo spending that kind of cash? second off how did the bill get that high without this dude being like ok ok enough is enough??? somethings not adding up in my head.
but it doesnt matter, GTR owners are all bosses and they are all tight. :Idiots
