i use the term city loosely, city to me doens’t end after the glenwood bridge, but rarely do i need to go outside the county to do anything. its the masses that come from butler, washington, westmoreland that i get jacked off about.
How about an out of county occupational tax? If you have your residence outside of the county, you have to pay a special tax to work in the city.

I understand that but unfortunatly the majority of this taxation problem is affecting people inter-county and truning this into a war.
The city problem is just that, a city proiblem due to poor management on the city’s behalf. Before they start looking for help they need to establish a solution on their own then ask for help no the other way around.
As for the Stadiums being built. As far as I remember they were voted down and this stupid town built and taxed residents anyways. Also any time anymoe from outside allegheny county comes in and pays for somthing that has sales tax they pay the 7% also so they are paying for it. They don’t say oh wait you live out side of allegheny you are exempt from paying the 7%.

here no offence but when you have city medic crew chiefs (which is a glorified position) making 120K a year, and 16 firefighter making over 100K and they don;t do dick there is a problem.

I’ve been reading your comments and I would have to say that you (Cutty) would want folks from other counties to come to Pittsburgh and spend money… because… the more they spend the more the city makes. Even if they are going to free areas… such as parks… they will more than likely by food or something in the city.
I don’t live in Pittsburgh nor do I work in Pittsburgh… but I would have to say that the city is pushing business away if they pass this new tax ($144). The jobs in the city don’t pay that much more than the jobs in the 'burbs. I would be damned if I would let someone take $144 from my first paycheck unless I was making 6 figures. And if I won’t work in Pittsburgh… it will be hard for an employer to keep a business open if no one will work for him/her. The tax is not going to help it is only going to hurt. They need to check their spending… pull in needless crap and give folks from other counties and areas a reason to go to the city. They need to bring folks into the city.

Murphy is pals with the fire department, there union votes for him, so thats why they get those types of incomes, on the other hand the police get shafted, and they hate him, and probably all will vote agianst him. I remember when i was down town at the protest for the police before they laid off jobs, murphy was such a cowered he wouldnt even come out till everyone left.

i agree it’s bullshit… but 144 out of a pay check isn’t much of anything at all…
and i got paid 20K+ more in the city than in greensburg… i did elevate one job level, but the same job paid about 10K+ more than greensburg… so i’d say you get paid a little more in the ‘city’.
