doom update

so I notched the front crossmember this weekend…and reinforced it with a steel bar inside…and then using .125 thick plate steel on the front of the box…so it will be stronger than the stock one…hopefully… I have almost all the accesories…holy bolts and little parts I need…and its all more…

8x coil packs…8x wires, 8x plugs…ahhhhh

so I go to install the Hinson kit…hmmmm what the fuck…it does not fit? the holes are way off…shit…they sent me the wrong kit… so I crawl underneath Davids s14 thats at ORF and sure enough I look at the spacing of his holes…they sent me a friggen s14 kit vs the s13 kit… bahhhh… so now I am waiting for the kit…

Re: electronics…and harness
I ordered a custom harness and stock ECU from Speartech in the USA , he is a EX gm guy that makes LS1 kits for hot rods… and makes harnesses that defeat all the emmisions and anti theft crap that is on the engine and ECU… should be in 3wks or so…

got the Ls2 clutch and flywheel so it should be able to hold over 500rwhp…if the future dicates mods

and now have all the PS pump, alternator, brackets, and bolts and MAP sensor, coil packs…ect… its alot of crap… I bit the bullet and bought the firebird/camero GM shop manual …which was a good idea since there is alot of crap I am still missing…little bits and peices…

sexy, nicely done.

good update Adam sorry to hear about them sending you the wrong kit, hopefully theyll straighten everything out.

theres no shame in buying a manual !

good job keep us updated.

Awsome Man

I would have ditched the S13 and bought an S14 instead of replacing the Hinson kit  We all know they are better!

All jokes aside, looks like shes coming together real well Adam.

Peter

bummer on hinsons fawkup, but good progress nonetheless.

almost done…maybe 10 hrs more work…

fixed for you buddy

Adam you lazy man, you didnt even prep the bay :stuck_out_tongue: focusing all the attention on the engine.

shes a beauty

ahhh that motor just looks like it belongs there!

Yeah Mike, I was just about to say that. It looks so OEM. An SR looks more out of place IMO…

v8s sound wrong when u see a 240sx rip by

it cool but why not get a corvette and save the hassle?

arnt corvettes good for road racing?

“So much torque, the chassis twisted coming off the line.”

Hehe, looking good so far. Can’t wait to see it running.

corvettes are VERY good track cars… IMO best out of the box from any OEM…even exotics…

however…why have a 3200lb corvette…when you can build a 2600lb s13

exellent words, and the cost is less with a 240!

Heh, it’ll probably look a little less OEM once the exhaust manifolds and exhaust go in

What’s amazing is how OEM the mount location is.

Ford V8s are very much the same.

Can’t wait to see/hear this thing moving!

yes once i get the tranny mount bolted in the engine will sit a bit more parallel

however…it fits very nice… I might even be able to fit a big block in the bay  would have to have some crazy zoomi headers sticking out the sides …but it might fit…

i would wager that the LS1 is even more compact that the ka24e and de…

will see how much it all weighs at the end…might weigh a bit more…

the t-56 tranny is crazy heavy

exhaust will be the two 2.5" headers going into a 3 inch straight single pipe with muffler…so from the exterior you wont be able to tell it has a v8 in it…

Where will you be joining the two sides of the exhaust? Just picturing the underside of the 240 makes me think there will be some notching/cutting of things under there to retain proper ground clearence.

especially with that monster trans… could always make some space for it to cross under the rear seats, then you could even boast you have seat warmers
