VTL S120.b:
In addition, upon all roadways, any vehicle proceeding at less
than the normal speed of traffic at the time and place and under the
conditions then existing shall be driven in the right-hand lane then
available for traffic, or as close as practicable to the right-hand curb
or edge of the roadway, except when overtaking and passing another
vehicle proceeding in the same direction or when preparing for a left
turn at an intersection or into a private road or driveway.
It could be argued from the video evidence that he was moving at the normal rate of traffic.
I had an Ohio driver total my jeep on the 90 a few years back. He tried to cross the road after backing up down the shoulder. Can we petition to keep Ohio drivers out of NY?
I had a bad taste for the Camaro guy when he left his left blinker on after getting behind the truck. We should all agree that the left lane is for passing, but…what was their speed? Did this happen at 74 or 60? The Camaro staying on the trucks ass probably didn’t make the guy want to get out of his way.
It looks to me like the right tire going off is what prompted the loss of control.
Edit: I noticed the DWI, but re-read and caught that he is unlicensed. Ohio is keeping it classy.
The Camaro driver will be off the road for a while and hopefully the pickup driver learns to get the fuck out of the left lane if you’re not passing. Makes you wonder how long the train of cars was behind the guy with the dashcam.
I really don’t care what the letter of the law says. Left lane blockers should be fired out of a cannon into the sun.
Guy in the pickup shouldn’t be ticketed. He can argue that speeding up to get past the semi would be violating the speed limit (perhaps). He also couldn’t slow down with drunky mctunderpants following too close.
Boxing him in was the funny thing to do, but that shit just isn’t worth it. Everybody could have been on their way if he just let the asshat get in front.
70+ MPH on uneven, grassed terrain is usually not going to be a good thing.
I sometimes get pretty pissed off when a slow driver is occupying the left lane, but I’ve never gotten “pass on the grassy median in a new Camaro” pissed off. Driving around all day, I’m amazed at the idiots I see on the road.
I agree he should have got out of the damn left lane, I can’t stand left lane blockers… but, if it were me, and that moron swerved into my lane from the right and almost drove me off the road, I probably would have reacted similarly to the pickup driver.
True, but I think it could be argued the opposite way as well. If he was holding up not just the Camaro but also the camera car and several other cars then he would be impeding traffic in violation of the law.
I guess my point is that while the Camaro was completely in the wrong this could have been avoided should the driver in the pickup driven defensively as opposed to making the point of blocking the Camaro in. It could have cost him his life…and for what?
Never mess with a working man with ladders on his rig. 0 F G going home for the day and in no mood for some ass hat that almost smashed into him when he first rolled up on him.
Truck driver was being a dick and sped up and purposely sat next to that big rig which is bad and should share some of the blame on one hand but passing on the grass was def the WTF moment.
