If we can’t get enough cars to cover a day, we could probably add a few bikes in for some limited track time at a lower cost. But if you guys want a bikes-only day then the price per bike is going to be the same as it would per car. But we haven’t figured out any of this yet.
Hmm that might work, the limited track time, as long as I get some ride alongs in the cars =p lol
Do a few of them and you decide you’ll figure out how to make it happen more often. It’s very addicting.
I for one don’t mind the organized, formal events. Keeps the ass-hats out and make for a safe, well run event. I’ve never run with you guys, but I assume none of that goes on because everyone pretty much knows and respects each other.
I’ve been to a few events where having trained flaggers and safety crew on site was critical, which is part of the added cost for bigger venues (along with insurance).
with the dunnville events things always went very well once people got out on track… I can’t recall any serious times where two cars where in danger of hitting each other. we had a few trains build up and some people who looked a little lost, but everything worked out well and it was a nice relaxed environment. This is what I’ll miss the most.
That’s not going to change, only the location. It’s a bit longer of a haul for you in Rochester though.
ok… maybe I’ll miss the location just as much
This is a long drive from Rochester.
But for a cheap weekend event, you can’t really beat it. It’s 100 miles (each way) further than Dunnville, but it’s on the highway the entire time (thankfully). Too bad the fast ferry isn’t running anymore.
i’m in. I definitely want to put my suspension to good use this season. I think I have my brake situation sorted out as well.
350-400 is a lot of money to spend to me. Too much for me to spend pretending to be a race car driver.
I wish I could find groups like this, where I could spend 100 and get a good day in at a relaxed environment with friends.
Understood. I’ve been to a few fun friday’s and it’s a blast, but it would definitely be more fun with the Onyx crew.
I’ll make the trip through Canada.
agreed
although they are now much farther I could still see hitting up a couple of these over the season
People spend 10x that making a street car a pretend race car all the time with no intention of taking it to the track. It’s a hobby, and to some people, a very serious one. I don’t mind spending that much money getting instruction, organized track time at a track I’ll be racing on, and hanging out with like minded people. Not bashing the Onyx group by any means, but I’m not ditching the BMW/PCA/NASA/SCCA clubs because they charge more.
If it wouldn’t cost me $300 to make it up to Canada for an afternoon of track time I’d be down as often as possible.
It’s not an afternoon Greg, it’s a full day.
With travel expenses it’s almost the same price as Mosport, but only getting one day. Too bad about Dunnville. That seemed like a pretty good value.
Maybe an MPD vid will change my mind…
I know at dunville you could go out and run whenever you wanted. I know at taurus car club you only get 4 or 5 sessions a event and they cost a lot more than the dunville events ever did. At dunville, whenever you were ready to run you could get out on the track without waiting more than a couple min for traffic to clear.
:squint: Does that really exist…
people actually track taurus’ ?
ian is your car going to be done for this?
It’ll be done. Reluctantly im know I’ll have to shell for a real 1.5/2 way LSD to do these grip days though.
What do u have now welded?
Yeah for now its gonna be a ghetto ass welded. Im gonna rape tires for while and then become sick of it,after that I’ll replace it with a proper diff.
