Anybody have anymore to add, Calgary shops perhaps, please post and I will add to the list

wow nice research dude

AutoDream had a chassis dyno for a few months now.

Derrick Dodges Dynos down. i work there its been down for a little bit

please add autodream to the TOP of the calgary section. =)

Nice list. But could you please add the type of dyno facility each location has?

It makes a difference whether it’s a dynojet, dynapac, mustang, etc.

DONE

what’s the cheapest place in edmonton? Maybe add prices to the list if at all possible?

^ Just call, prices vary and are subject to change at anytime and it also depends how many runs, cars, ect. Most of the hard work is done for you already

any chance that we can somehow allocate reputation to each shop listed, as some are really good (autodream) and some really suck and shouldn’t be open (lightspeed innovations)…?

Provide a reason as to why Lightspeed sucks?

Who cares? I am not a fan of Cam and Light speed. People have good experiences and bad. I had a Bad one so I will never go back.

they charged me 10,000 to fix my car…
a little extreme eh?
there fixing work included duct-taping wires together under the hood of my car upon other great work they provided. Storage fee’s of my car was also attached to my bill.

then i took it to Autodream so they could fix there handy work…

+1 to autodream!

Lightspeed:

Positives: clean professional looking shop, cam is knowledgeable,

Negatives: cam doesn’t return phone calls, i wasnt impressed by wiring job, every dyno session is $600+tax, shop rate is about $190 an hour

overall experience: decent, but expensive

AFI performance:

Positives:…none

Negatives: Martin doesnt answer the phone, the voicemail is always full, therefore it is impossible to leave a message, going there is 75% a waste of time because they are never open, there is also no specific hours of operation, the shop is dirty and litterd with beer cans, the dyno has no airbrake so your clutch is often what ends up slowing down 5000lbs of rotating mass, frequent thefts from vehicles tend to occur, vehicle turnover rate is absurd(approx 6-12 months), there is no certified mechanic working there. i could go on…

I really appreciate the input. It helps the people shop around and see what shops really are like. Customer service/knowledge has gone down a-lot. We need to weed out the shitty shops so others don’t get screwed!

agreed

If one really wanted to get the project done properly, it is best to research the f…ck out of whatever you are doing and doing it yourself. This is why I don’t let enybody touch my car, I do the research and build evrything. This includes the turbo kit.

All the shops in Alberta are run by red necks that don’t know shit about cars. I was in one shop getting a couple of dyno pulls and took note of the “custom” turbo kit one of the techs was doing. Holly sh!t, that crafsmenship was absolutly horrible. Worst welds I have ever seen, and everything else that goes with it.

I don’t think abybody has an actual trained professional in any of the shops, not to mention that they just don’t give a crap. You can tell this when you mention the EMS that you want to use…they will tell you that it’s crap…bla bla bla…you should buy this and that. What they really mean is that they don’t know how to tune it, well if you are a shop with a dyno you should be able to tune whatever the car comes with…

FYI, Martin at AFI is the last place I would ever go to get anything done. The guy is drunk most of the time.

You’Ve been in the wrong shops. Just cause someone has a dyno doesn’t mean they know how to tune a wheel barrow let alone a car. Also with all the different EMS systems on the market it is tough to keep up with everything.

That is true about having a dyno. However it all boils down to monitoring knock and and a/f ratio, that is 80% of you tune right there. All the EMS’s out there are basically the same, and so are all the internal combustions engine (except the rotary) Knowing to pull timing and add fuel at peak torque for example is elementary knowledge regardles of what the EMS is.

Who do you think is a rputable tuner? I am not saying there isn’t one, but I am asking.
