Engine clicking noise?

Hey guys. Whenever I let my 89 240sx sit for a while (like overnight or something) and start the car, the engine makes a clicking noise. After I drive the car around a bit, the clicking noise gets quieter and quieter until you can barely hear it. When the car is freshly started, the clicking noise is faster when I rev the engine so I’m pretty sure its not the fan hitting anything or something like that. Is this that timing chain rattle I read about or something else. Please help. Thanks.

Hmmmm…

could be ur valve lifters

it is the valves.

you lifters are making noise.

check your oil level.

OKay, I checked the oil and it seems fine. Is the valve lifters making this noise bad for the engine or something? Do I have to get it fixed? I talked to the guy who sold me the car and he said its normal for the car to make this noise when the car is not warmed up. The sound does go away after about 10 or so minutes of driving.

thats somewhat normal.

if it stays going the entire time driving i would get it checked.

other wise its just an engine acting its age
