Engine Setup? Sr20

I am looking to do some work on my engine over the winter and I am not a genious about cars I am still learning lots of things and I need some opinions on what mods to do to my sr20det in my silvia. I am looking for a general 350hp when I am done.
Any opinions on what to do?
Stock sr20 internals can hold up to 350 hp right?
I also do not have a huge budget as I am doing other stuff to my car also so I cannot rebuild the whole engine.
I was thinking ARP studs, cometic head gasket, turbo, injectors, boost controller, and get it tuned.
Once again I do not know tons about some of this stuff so your input would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Talk to Allen or Rob for your sr needs. . .

what turbo you going to be going with?
what type of driving style do you have?
what is your budget?

well if u can find some internals for a t3 off of a r33 2.5 i will sell it to you for 50 bux
it hauled ass on my rb.
i would suggest gettin a little bit bigger turbo and a fuel management system, and pretty much everything you have stated above.you are on the right track.it is not difficult to gain 350 on 1-3 grand
good luck!

Alright I will forsure talk to them thanks!
For a turbo I really have no idea I havnt done much research yet to see what other people are using and I do not know much about turbo’s yet. Any suggestions?
I like to drive my car hard and I will be coming to the track to drift for my first time as soon as spring comes around here
I am not exactly sure of my budget yet I will know as paycheck by paycheck comes in. Hopefully I will be able to spend around 3-4 grand by the time spring comes around.
I am pretty confident I could.

a grand to make 350 hp eh? what kind of pipe dream world are you living in? i sure hope you dont plan on running a safc for tuning, i would sugest a minimum of a power fc, exhaust mani, a 2871 or larger turbo, injectors, maf, tuning…oh look your already at a minimum of 3k…i would say a decent turbo setup would run you between 3-6 grand…keep in mind a wideband o2 sensor is always a good idea for tuning the car and you are going to want to upgrade your clutch…so i would say more around 5 grand!

Turbo, injectors, maf upgrade with tuned ecu or better yet a proper standalone, rad upgrade, exhaust manifold (not ebay), exhaust, intercooler, clutch, hmm what else?

dont forget the suspension bits your going to want spring time. The power wont be fun with gay suspension.

Pick a PFC, they are amazing lil computors. Plugs right in and easy to handle. Then you can change your set-up all you want and change your maps with another tune or if you get the lab top you can always just upload new maps. For the money the power fc is the way to go.

not many have broke 300whp on SR20s in edmonton so I am guessing it will take a bit more than 1-3g to do it properly.

upgrade fuel pump - 255/GTR
upgrade injectors - 550cc/555cc
upgrade camshafts - 256/264
rocker arm stoppers
metal headgasket
upgrade air filter and intake pipe
upgrade tubular exhaust manifold / dump pipe / downpipe / test pipe / catback 76mm+
upgrade turbo something cheap gtrs/gt2871
good tuning on a/m piggyback or standalone
am oil cooler and efficient intercooler for cooling

It all comes down to tuning and having a strong engine to begin with

silly 4 cylinders,well then i guess i was very mistaken,my bad.

Well I have Greddy Front mount intercooler and a koyo copper rad, some kind of aftermarket clutch not sure if it would hold up to 300+ hp though.
I have a GTR fuel pump.
And Allen I already have coilovers, Not the best ones but ride good enough for now.
Jason maybe i could get you to fab me up a top mount manifold! It might not be for another month though.
But thanks everyone for the information it helps alot

i wish it only cost 3 grand…man ive spent over 7k on my car to get in the 300whp mark…and dont even have anything to tune with just 1 map on a rom tune…its deffinatly not cheap…and if your not installing everything yourself its going to cost you…i put my motor in with my new turbo setup on a clutch that was still good when i ran a t28 on a stock sr…and as soon as i went for a drive it slipped like crazy…so baught another clutch for 600 and had to install that myself…then my head gasket blew so i had to fix that myself…man all the shit ive had to fix on my car i couldnt imagine how broke i would be if i were to have payed someone else to do it all.

If you spent 7000 and are only touching 300 WHP you either did some body work or are getting owned hardcore.

Kyle from Split Desecion motor sports in Vernon has a used turbo kit for 1600 bucks. Guaranteed to push well over 300 hp. Call him.

350 on SR is easy. Don’t let some of these posts deter you. There are lots of things that have been listed that you would not actually need to do. You are fine with your stock exhaust mani. You dont need to go stand alone as was mentioned, use a good ROM tune. You could find a good used 2871R turbo for less than $1000 without a doubt. Dont need cams, dont NEED to do headgasket (but there is always the chance it could go). You can do 350 horsepower on 550 cc injectors.

I didnt do any bodywork…nor did i get raped…but im that 7k it includes a motor aswell…so that of course changes things up.

i have spent 3 grand already on my stock sr20 and i’m still probably around 250 - 270hp. that only bought me a clutch, flywheel, turbo, turbo elbow, injectors, emanage, and a gtr intercooler maybe a few other things i can’t think of. now i plan on spending 2 - 3 grand for a full engine build. its not cheap man
