Engine Swap

hey guys, im writing to get peoples opinions/comments/suggestion for a VG30DE into Z31 swap. I have a 1987 300ZX N/A.

Im not sure If im going to do it. I want to. I have the money. I just want to know what I have to do to make it happen. And what shops in edmonton people have had good experience with this sort of thing.

save yourself the hassel and do an rb swap!!!

“garage SGD” is open for this but there is ALLOT of custom shit, not many peeps do this!
and why not the twin turbo? the vg30de has same power as the vg30et and less torque aswell! just a suggestion but it is lots of work and no it wont just cost for the motor u will need lots of wiring or just use a full standalone! i have only seen 2 of these swaps done so it would be pretty cool to see done or to actually do it :slight_smile:

yeah, i heard the tranny is shorter, so ill need a new tranny, and new driveshaft, the engine, and the harness. sound about right? do the mounts line up? garage SGD. they do a bunch of custom shit like this? thanks bud

You should do a unique swap. RB30DET

Get an RB30E block and bottom end from Australia. Then Put the Rb25DET head on it. Pick out a good turbo, and then BAM! Enough torque to fuck up the earth’s rotation.

haha garage SGD is my name i just made up, we are looking for something cool like this to do! something challenging, also nis240 said autodream…they havent ever attempted this yet either! it will be a new swap to any shop in alberta, no one has done it!

well, I sent out an e-mail. I’m gonna sell my Audi. So that should be enough to get the swap done. and ill be moving to edmonton from yellowknife in april. So hopefully it all works out

You should swap a FJ20 with TD06 turbo/external wastegate set-up

Are you? I realize that it is a non turbo but simply turboing the stock engine would do him more good than putting in a SR. I know most of you think the SR is the engine that rules the world however it isn’t and if any of you SR guys want to match up this summer I will be willing to show you that you will fail and you may want to reconcider how almighty your SR is.

SR20’s and VG30’s can be good buds.

I e-mailed Autodreams, and they got back to me. He says he’s gonna check to see if the mounts are the same, and he’s sure the wiring won’t be a problem. So i’ll wait and hear what else he has found out.
