exhaust question

Has anyone heard of OBX racing? they make an exhaust for my 95 altima, it is the only one i can really find for it, except for the expensive greddy one. Is this company worth while? of should i just get a custom one made?

Can’t speak of Altima applications, but the Spec V version of the OBX stuff is what you buy when you want the performance and don’t care about the sound. Last time I heard, their stuff is really raspy, but I haven’t heard any/many complaints about the quality.

thats the thing, i have heard so many different takes of the exhaust that i dont know, some people like it some don’t. The thing is i saw it in a Super Street article for a Subaru STI, so i figured it must be decent if they would place it in the mag, but not sure.

The KA is gonna be a little raspy regardless of exhaust, another resonator would help.

the thing is i just put a muffler on my stock exhaust, supposed to be a Megan muffler but sure, it sounds nice, nto raspy at all, maybe due to the stock exhaust but that should’nt make any diff, as long as i have a res in it. what you guys think?

Well, if you go to a full exhaust, it’s definately going to be louder. I say mount the OBX, and if it is too loud you can always put a resonator in your system later on.

“The KA is gonna be a little raspy regardless of exhaust, another resonator would help.”
Yeah. Damn truck motors always being so loud…

I have driven V8’s that have a higher rev limit than a QR. FYI what do you think is the base engine in the Frontier…You guessed it QR.

Also powers the X-Trail. I didn’t say the QR was a good motor, I just wanted to make fun of the 240 for old times sake! :E

Altimaman, what is the price difference between OBX and the GReddy exhaust?

i can get the obx for around 285 american, or off ebay for about 250-300 canadian, the greddy is about 700 or so canadian from any of the shops around here.

Hmm…hardly worth the difference then. I would have probably gone with a cheaper exhaust myself but I got a hell of a deal on it.

I say get the OBX and put the extra money into more mods!

Thats a good idea.

is the quality of it any good though? do you know? i know one of the guys on necc website page has one, but i can’t get a hold of him.

Well, I don’t know personally of anyone that has OBX stuff on their car. However, going off their general reputation from places like the VBoard, it seems to last mostly as long as other brands do. Just because it is inexpensive doesn’t mean it’s utter crap.

at that price it doesn’t hurt to find out

thats what i thought, i guessed the only reason it is so cheap is because it is not as big as greddy or apexi, and i mean an exhasut is an exhaust providing it is done right, manderal bends and stuff.

Well, part of the reason that OBX is cheaper is that they seem to “borrow” their designs from more established brands. They also don’t have much of a name to trade on, certainly not like Apexi or GReddy.
