F-150 Questions

I have a 46 mile commute daily all highway. With the snow it’s been around 14

I got my FX4 ecoboost at the end of October. 3.55 gears.

Trucks been great so far. 17.0 average with a good healthy mix. On highway trips it can range from 16-20 pending on hills and speed, obviously. My dad had a 5.0 before and got no better then 15.9 average trying to get the best.

Overall I’m happy with my truck and wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Honest opinion, forget fuel economy, get something you truly want and will enjoy driving everyday.

how do you like your cummins? I’m looking to buy one this summer. Ideally I’d like to buy the laramine limited, but can’t justify $65k on a truck.
I’m thinking about getting a lower end one, because I really want a 6spd manual.
I was also thinking about the 1500 with the eco diesel, but my main reason for the 2500 is because i’d like to mount a sled deck on it… with the sled deck and two snowmobiles i’ll be well over the payload of a 1/2ton pick up :frowning:

Love the Dodge, best truck for the money period.

I pick up the truck today on lunch. Its a Blue 2012 f-150 STX 5.0 with 19k miles. Gonna be a change coming from a loaded truck to a pretty basic 4x4 truck. Power wise it feels OK but definitely not as snappy as the SS. Wish it was a little more trq’y down low but maybe a tune will help that. Plans are tires and paint wheels/grill/emblems black.

 love the blue

I have a 2011 ram hemi rcsb 2wd with the 20"s and 3:55 gear, 5 speed trans. around town I average 18 or so mpg, can get a little more if i’m easy on it. my last road trip I averaged just over 22mpg round trip going into the mountains of NH and back. I stick with 89 octane. 87 octane the computer detunes on the hemi. I’ve had the truck a couple years now and mpg has been pretty consistent.

I imagine the newer trucks with the extra gear or the eco diesel will get better mpg, but not too much better if you go 4wd. my 2wd tips the scales at over 5000 lbs already.

I like your Starbucks Eco-friendly cup.

not my girlfriends pretty gold coffee cup accessory?

that coffee cup sleeve needs to die in a fire.

lol u mad bro?

I’m not mad … I’m disappointed.

the sleeve… it makes sense for him. :fggt:

Speed Limit in Texas is 85 no?? Another thousand RPM or 2 on the tach will def kill that MPG.

Pretty sure that’s only one road, in the middle of the desert.

Yes that is the state limit.

You’re pretty wrong, highway 130 is the direct route between Austin and San Antonio.

Most of the outlying highways are 75 or 80mph and everyone does 90 haha. If you are really out in the desert in West Texas or something there really isn’t a speed limit. No one cares out there.

My wife’s truck with 35’s gets 22mpg at 82-84mph. I’d sure at 75 or so it might pull 23-24.

Good Dodge read

So it’s still only one road though, right? Or did they raise it across the state since then?

Yea but the thing about Texas is a lot of those 70-75mph areas the cops don’t give a fuck until you’re 90+

It’s not like NY when I lived in Waco and had family in Dallas we would regularly cruise at 85-90 with no issues.

Inside city limits of Dallas cops care but outside of that its really no fucks.

Right, but it’s not the posted limit. That’s all I’m saying. I pass troopers several times a day at 75, that doesn’t mean the speed limit is 75.
