Facebook Privacy Check

Even if you hate Facebook, there is still people like me who have then just incase someone needs to contact you or search for you for business, personal, etc.

This check is browser based and runs on your profile to make sure your profile is blocking what you think its blocking. Worth the 20 seconds to setup and run.

This is legit? I don’t feel like getting scammed.

Ya they cant steal your password since you login your self and then run it. Just runs a javascript on your page and settings after you login. Guy wrote a popular web chat too for businesses and is ethically there. I trust him more than the CEO of Facebook.

It’s legit. I just used it yesterday.

F U Facebook privacy policy

Ran it caught that I wasn’t opted out on instant personalization bullshit and that a few things where checked for allowing friends to share certain info, removed those.

Nice handy tool.

Yes Mine caught some problems too, but wasn’t able to automatically correct them so I did it manually. Also some just keep “scanning”.

Nice tool though TY

I don’t understand what people put on facebook that they don’t want the world seeing.

LOL well, when you put it that way…

Wat no high res???

If ever I could un-see something…

lol. but seriously, what do people put on their FB that they’re worried about the PRIVACY of?

This is a legitimate question…

Everything can be used against you. I don’t have time to type it all out though.

For starters, something that people don’t realize, is that password recoveries are a MASSIVE security threat. When you “forget” your online banking password, what do they do? They ask you a bunch of questions about your mother’s maiden name, maybe your pet, what high school you went to, etc… hmmmm, where could I find all of that information about someone? For SO MANY people those answers all lay right on their facebook. Then there is the issue of job hunting. For some people, drunken pictures or weird conversations might be enough to turn away potential employers. Or how about a future employer seeing that someone’s motto is ‘no fucks given’ (clearly that person doesn’t care though). A lot of people just don’t want to let the entire world see everything about them, and that should be a choice.

Somebody’s gunna say, “well then don’t post it on facebook”.

yeah, I am sure they will

I don’t put anything on Facebook that I wouldn’t want everyone I know to see. I still don’t want to publish things out there more than necessary - especially when it comes to sharing personal info with companies.

Those are legitimate reasons…

I love Facebook. I get so much great information from it that most wouldn’t think twice about posting. If those people adjusted the privacy settings so that I had to be a friend to see it I would never get any of it. People want to share information with people they know, but inadvertently or unknowingly make that information available for anyone to see.

Yeah, that’s pretty cool if you have no life or are super creepy.

or?

I am pretty sure those two things go hand in hand

Yes, checking to see if people implicate themselves on facebook is super creepy. What was I thinking.

are you a fucking detective? if not, then yeah, creepy.
