Fashion Thread: Men's Accessories

my primary 2 pairs of dress shoes (including those in the pic above) are ebay AE finds

regular price is for hippies

i’ll look for a boxing week special on carmina

Still what $400 for those though? What about ties? Typically I just go Clavin Klein for mine, decent quality, decent price. They’re no Stefano Ricci ties but they work.

that tie in that pic is an Alexander Olch… i’ve seen his ties in boutiques for like $150 - $200 but i caught that one on a sale rack at a Neiman Marcus outlet for like $30…

for ties follow this guy on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/sch/balearic1/m.html?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEFSXS%3AMESOI&_trksid=p2053788.m1543.l2654

Spoopoker from SF… dude bought a Ferrari 458 with the proceeds from his ebay consigning… he puts some seriously ill shit up on the regular

Love the Olch ties  I’ll have to keep my eye out for them.

love the distressed green shoes

Since on topic about shoes, opinions on Cole Haans? I have a pair of brown wingtips that look like a short boot almost as far as height wise. I like them so far. Since I live so close to the Outlet Mall that’s where I got them as they usually have some pretty solid deals. Believe originally they were ~$300 and I paid around $160-ish.

I know @XwalkerX likes his CH shoes.

Cole Haans won’t land you any street cred with the high-end fashion crew, but they’re a solid everyday shoe for the price you paid.

Don’t need street cred for my shoes lol. I like them so far, was just curious in regards of longevity and quality.

Trust me, I totally understand this one… Transitioning from being in an Engineering Role, to doing Business Development and managing about 25MM of customers; image and personal interaction is COMPLETELY different and a TON more important.

I just picked up a pair of CH’s a month or two ago new, paid about the same. Took about 3-4 weeks of daily work wear to break them in and be comfortable, they had a weird pressure point on my foot that hurt like hell until the shoes “molded” to my feet. Now they’re super comfortable. As for durability/wear, I’ll keep you posted as time goes on.

I’ve been keeping an eye for some AE’s, but haven’t gotten lucky yet.

Wear a button shirt/tie to Apple and see what happens

Usually my go to shoe for work. The reason they’re so comfortable is because Nike owns them and usually puts their insoles and other technology into them. Solid Business casual choice IMO. High End shoe…no.

Yeah…yeah. I’m assuming most people are in jeans and a t-shirt around the googleplex as well.

All the companies out there are like that…One of them sent a coworker of mine back to the hotel to put on shorts when he showed up like that

this is so important.

the way i see it, as far as the image you create for yourself, if you can’t or don’t put much of any care into how you present and carry yourself it is safe to assume you have the same lack of care about the way you manage your business. or on the other hand, if you put a great deal of thought and care into how you present and carry yourself it is reasonable to assume that you apply the same level of care into the work that you do.

obviously it’s not a science and i have seen exceptions to this rule (not enough care or too much foo foo) but you don’t often see sloppy dudes kicking ass in any kind of business that involves dealing with people. with more technical or ‘back of house’ work you can definitely get away with it and sometimes guys who are so focused on the technical side of things are better off appearing so focused on that part of their life that they totally don’t care about their attire etc.

I gotta say, this is a dangerous point you’re trying to put across here…

i agree and don’t mean to offend anyone, maybe should rephrase some of that.

I’m not offeneded, mainly bec. I don’t buy into that kind of stuff, nor has it ever meant anything to me seeing someone all suited up. Working in corporate america for nearly a decade now, I have seen it all - and some of the worst people I have ever met in my life through this work environment have always been dressed to the 9’s…

yes being way over-dressed is a sign that you don’t really understand your environment. so is being way under-dressed though.

i’ll use an example of a guy at an event i was at recently that was business casual and yet he was carrying his back-pack over one shoulder, a T-shirt 2 sizes too big, baggy cargo pants and runners with laces too big that were flopping around… you shouldnt be around clients or partners as a business owner like that.

Putting yourself together in a neat and professional manner is completely different than wearing expensive and trendy clothes.

Making sure your clothes are clean, ironed, fit well and professional will go a long way. Also a clean haircut and a good shave. No need for fancy green shoes in most cases.

This

Unless you have the money and necessity to purchase high end clothing there isn’t a need to. But you can still be somewhat engaged in how you dress. Baggy dress shirts kill me.
