For me, this car inspired me to do my grade 6 speech on Ferrari. I had the Testarossa hot wheels, the 911 Turbo remote control car that I got for Christmas, and a whole wack load of exotics and sports cars…Toy cars was a big hobby of mine. With that said, the F355 was the defining car that blew me away. It’s looks were sharp and mean in it’s era, it was blisteringly quick for a street car, and it’s exhaust note is unparalleled. After over a decade since presenting my speech, I think I have fallen in love with this car…again. Sure I love the F430, and the F40…but an F355 WOT does it for me. I think it’s the best sounding car.
Here’s the video I watched. At under 70K, these cars are more “affordable”.
Maitenance costs are insane. Engine drops every 3 years for what they call majors, or every 30K I believe. Not easy to work on, very unforgiving, but damn it, if you have the talent or the bank to maintain it, it’s an amazing car. The great thing about such a car is that you can still find a mint one or a restored one at say Gran Turismo, 20 years later, and have the car drive just as good as the day it left the lot. I’d love to enjoy and own one someday. I find this Ferrari seems to be what a lot call the “last true Ferrari”. I’m not a Forza nut that has driven them, but it’s gotta mean something coming from the mouths of people that have.
How did you manage to pull that off at 17? Tubi exhaust…you are a lucky man. 210 is just warming up in that car :). iI magine the smooth acceleration feels out of this world. Imagine a 355 with straight pipes, better cam timing, and a little tuning.
Also Mr.Ueno at Vertex has an amazing carbon fibre aero kit for the 360 Modena.
That Modena looks like A+ sex on wheels. Imagine cruising at night in that ride.
I did a speech on a Model A hahahaha… it actually won a couple competitions and I got some cash for it.
F355, always has been and will be my favorite Ferarri too. Nice low, sleek, fat and wide rear end, and yeah, that sound!! I just don’t know if I’d rather have the red with tan or black with tan. If it were the black one, I’d for sure got or BLKN TAN haha.
isnt there a company in T.O that rents out high end cars on a per hour basis, thought i read it somewhere and i believe you need to put down some kind deposit to rent one of those just in case you crash it ?
When I worked at Prestige, my boss had a 360 with tubi exhaust, he used to let me drive it around all the time! I loved it especially when I used to drive to Yorkdale to pick up lunch, I would park right in front of the doors by Holt Renfrew and run inside, grab lunch and come out and security would never say anything, they once complimanted me on it, they liked having a Ferrari parked there, I guess it looked good for business, and I never got parking tickets either! I would see other cars with tickets meanwhile the Ferrari never and I used to park in the fire route at least 2 or 3 times per week lol!
It’s amazing what you can get away with when you have money, if you drive a 240sx you get a ticket for just being near the fire route, you drive a Ferrari you can block the fire truck when it arrives and they smile and say thank you for shopping at Yorkdale LOL!!!
Yes, Ferrari’s tend to have that kind of magic where you can park anywhere and few will mind. It seems to be one of the few if the only brand of car that can do that.
I never realized the Car Buff’s guy was such a baller. John has had my Drift Society 2 on back order forever…
Formula Kartways doesn’t have any advertising for exotic car rentals, I guess it’s long gone.
I have always loved Ferrari for being a no compromise performance manufacturer. Born out of racing, I don’t think their is one single Ferrari model that compromises high performance for over-the-top creature comforts. The closest thing to a compromise is the 612 Scagletti, and that car still wrecks like nobody’s business.
Which other manufacturer makes a street car so performance bred you can see the carbon fibre weaves through the paint, because they didn’t want to add unecessary weight from a thicker paint job (F40). That’s hardcore. And the best part about it is that they will still keep building these phenomenal piecies of engineering and if you don’t like the raw performance over unecessary luxuries mentality…they don’t give a fuck. They even sacrifice realiability for more performance, requiring majors to upkeep their cars. I love it.
The F430 Scuderia: no radio, no carpets, carbon fibre interior. Not for the faint of heart…I love the madness that is Ferrari.
From what I was last aware of to Rent a vehicle you must be over 21, to rent an exotic you must be over 25. You have to purchase insurance of course and I would assume a rather decent size deposit.
I can’t remember the other company that I know for sure does it. It is cool and all but costs an arm and leg.
I remember riding home on “Grimmy” ( heavily modded bike) on the highway when this guy in a F355 wanted to pick a fight.we both came from 404 to 401. he down shifted and I heard the most beautiful symphony ever a car did make and the other car parted ways for him . he accelerated to a high pitch scream ,magnificent. lovely ,But “Grimmy” wasn’t having any of that, so “Grimmy” and I destroyed him I front of everyone . he was not even a spec in the mirror. great car regardess. will never forget that scream.
