Wow… that speed kills page sheds a lot of light on the reason for such pussy-ass speed limits…

One word of advice, if you think it is a serious offence get a lawyer. I never ever hired a lawyer and would plead guilty with an explanation all the time. Except for my last ticket, which I got burned big time, and had to hire a lawyer. You best bet is to plead guilty with an explantion, and reason your case with the justice of the peace. Usually you can stike a deal with him in the first hearing and then you will most likely get a reduced fine and possibly no points. If the guy is a prick, you will go to trial and plead your case in court. Then it is up to the crown prosecuter to give you a break. In that case I would get to court early and try to sweet talk a negotiation witht the crown prosecuter. Or, your best and most costly option is to get a lawyer. The plus sides are that you won’t miss a day of work to show up to court, the lawyer usually knows everyone in the court by first name, and you got a better chance to come out with a mild fine. If you are asking why I know this much, its cause be driving record resembles that of a multiple DUI offender. Just try to aim for no points, it will be cheaper in the long run. Hope this helps and good luck.
