Anyone in your county. Does not have to be a gun owner. Just a reference for the background check.
They told me the same “up to 10 weeks” but I received mine in 7 days.
I agree wholeheartedly with your view on an armed population. Just look at Texas for instance.
I agree with you a on the Sig’s, it was my second choice but a bit rich for my blood right now. I feel like the Glock can be compared to a Chevy 1500 work/truck, reliable, affordable but no matter what you do its just a truck.
Rumor has it, many law enforcement agencies are starting to move to the M&P pistols. Thoughts?
M&P are a real nice gun for what I have read. Very reliable and accurate out of the box. I check these out, and they are a great price. My problem was the way it fit my hand, I had trouble reaching the slide to chamber around, short and fat thumbs…but a nice gun for what I have read on them. If you looking for that price, another is the ruger sr9. I have shot the SR9 a few times and like it.
wait erie county is not different from niagara right?
Niagara is easier and takes about half the time. References are done by mail instead of a phone call from the local police.
EDIT:
 08GT500 on it only being 7 days from after you turned in your receipt. Hoping mine is close to that quick.
they told me 3 weeks, and i had it in 5-6 days. Hope it comes quick!
I expect some delay since I turned it in Monday and now it will be going to Albany and back over the Thanksgiving break.
By the way, while I was at the permit office the black guy who always seems to be there was going through a stack of applications and says real loud to his coworker (I’m guessing loud enough so he knew I’d hear him) “Over half of these are from Williamsville, like there is so much crime there”.
I really wanted to say something to the little prick but knew it would just get my application “lost”.
It’s not the crime in Williamsville, its the houshold income that probably annoys him.
OT: everytime I see this thread listed in new post’s i think of this.

Be nice to the black guy who works there he is actually a cool guy and helpful. It not his fault the system is crap.
Am I the only oen that liked how you had to get pics taken for the application, then they charge you to take more pics for acutal card in the office?
I just looked at the SR9 and I liked it a lot. I’m trying to decide between that one and the Glock 19. Can’t shoot them, so I’m going on personal opinions… anyone like one or the other?
Go to nigara gun center and see if you can rent them. Smith and wesson M&P is good, Beretta PX4, Springfield XD, used sig sauer P6. All within the same price range. Glock makes a good gun, just not a fan of the no safety and light trigger pull if you going to get a ccw. Springfield is a good gun, just felt to much like a glock to me, and I just didn’t like the feel of them, or the way they shoot. PX4 for me was the best fit. The Ruger SR9 I have shot, and its a real nice gun. Best is not to take anyone’s word other than they are reliable. everyone has different opinions on what they want. Best you can do it handle one, get the feel for it, how it fits your hand, how you can reach the functions, etc. Best to shoot one though. If I was in NY i would let you try out the Beretta. The Ruger does have nice safety features if you are new to shooting until you get proper way to handle one. Remember hand guns are different than long guns.
I’ve been around guns my whole life and have shot all of my dads pistols, so safety is a concern, but not the deciding reason I would buy one. I’ll have to take a ride up the the Niagara gun range and see what they have available.
Just got mine in the mail yesterday!! I will be going with a Glock G30 unless I find a better deal on something else.
