First time tuning with DSMlink

A boost leak test should still show if the throttle plate is closed. It’s not a perfect seal, and there’s bypass holes. By your theory, the car couldn’t idle.

But yea, I popped my OEM old fiber gasket as well. The revised ones are metal, and solved my problems.

Jesse

I had my fast air idle valve sealed off and the idle screw ALL the way closed to get the car to idle right,
so yes the ic piping was totally closed off by the throttle plate from the intake manifold, in my case.

my car was idleing from the air getting past the intake manifold gasket.

idk but the car held 20lbs during a boost leak test, and after 1-2 minutes would go down to 15lbs and hold that for quite some time.

It was reccomended for me to use a magnus heat spacer gasket

F tuning in link. haha. 9:1 AFR FTMFW.

Actually I was finally getting somewhere when the trans went I’m not sure if i’ll take it out this winter or not to fix the fuel stuff.

I spent last night riing shotgun drifting round abouts in a 340whp catback/boost controller evo 9…why am I even playing with dsms.

^

Oh yeah, your car was barrels of fun too. NOT…
That laptop almost went out the window too.

The upside in that situation was the car even completely untuned, and raw, was completely retarded.

Sitting on the floor and hitting your head off the roll cage support whilst trying to hang onto the laptop and having your ass cooked by the exhaust FTL! And 6k rpm launches with no seat ftl as well. I think Kman was just trying to kill me.

Bastich!

Wussy

well my car is amazing it sounds and runs beautifully…out of boost.

so what is the best way to tune a dsm? dsm link with a maf? or what? can you convert to a MAP?

By using both I suppose,

right now I have a GM maf, and just recently hooked up is a GM 3 bar map sensor.

so when tuning with dsm link I’ will see the hertz value and the map reading, this sould make things pretty accurate.

some users of dsm link convert to speed density, but I’m not going to do that…at least for now.

It’s not the GM maf that causes the problem it’s the programming within the translator, it distorts the signal.

V3 will have direct GM maf support so you will be taking the MAFT out of the loop, guys are making 700-800whp with the MAF on the car so there’s no reason to say that the maf itself is a bad setup, it’s just a bitch to tune and the translator is picky about air temperature.

You can also run link in MAP mode by clamping a low cutoff HZ point and tuning entirely off VE.

Outside of full AEM, Link is the best way to go, the funny thing is 90% of the high hp cars are running either and making the same amounts of power, it’s the guys running 1000+hp or full drag cars that want to limit weight by removing the factory wiring harness go with AEM.

what would it take to make around 650awhp?
1000cc injectors(maybe)
eagle/ross combo
cams HKS 262’s?
gt3567R .82ar
dsm link with what maf seteup??? stock or what? I have no clue
and a clutch tranny that can hold.
Coil on plug.
arp studs

what else is there that big bucks?
will a 255intake support power like this on a dsm?

I’d go with HKS 272’s/FP2’s/BC 272’s, etc etc over a 264 cam.

The stock 1G MAS is garbage. The 2G MAS will flow ~58lbs/min, stock. Hack it and run more. The EVO MAS flows a bit more I think. Or go with a GM.

As for fuel, people have made that kind of power on a single 255, but I’d go with a second, either in tank or in line, just to be safe.

The throttle plate does not seal 100%, and there should be a few minor bypass holes, also. You can close the BISS the entire way and the car will still idle. It will be low, but it’ll still idle.

3g mas if you’re staying draw through.

Same as the EVO, correct?

I run a quartermaster Twin clutch with a Jackstransmissions Trans. As for ARPs they can fuck off…unless you get l19s

i make 200 awhp with cams, 2gmas, 1000cc injectors, and a 565 hp rated pte turbo and other loads of such. :bigok:

on a serious note jesse what kinda hp can the supra tt pump support in the dsms?

my 1st dyno #'s were very sad, too.

but I’ve come a long way from then

this is quoted from dsmtalk
Supra pump is only good up to 550 whp max, the Bosch 6XXwhp By combining the Walbro and Bosch you should be able to hit as much as 8XXwhp

255 and 660s have seen 9’s…and race fuel and other things

http://www.roadraceengineering.com/fuelpumpflowrates.htm

Not too much more than a 255 HP.

I’m umping my dual walbros in the spring for twin weldons.
