Fixed the STi transmission. Pics on post 130.

OMG! 7k for for a built tranny!! HAHAHA i dont wana spend 3k for a shortblock. F%$# that time to build a straight axle gasser!!! My stage 5 built th400 for my camaro cost $2000 and its supposedly good for 1500hp.

Right. Which leads me to my next thought: Perhaps some of the cost of the dogbox would be offset in terms of added resale value? Sure that’s just a justification for getting the cool thing, but so what?

Don’t you daily drive this car in the summer, even though it has a cage? Something tells me you wouldn’t want to do that with a dogbox and clutchless upshifting etc

If the Andrewtech place does a beefed up unit that’s inbetween stock and the dogbox that would be the best option. If they don’t then the rebuilt is probably your best option.

Because it would still cost over $3k for one that might be beat to shit?

Oh, and ultimately I vote PPG purely because it’s cooler and neither my car nor my money. :stuck_out_tongue:

ur baller, $7500 is nothing for u

I agree, go big or go home

dog box all the way

Have you looked at your problem in this light?..

How much longer do you plan on keeping the car? IMO this is one of those upgrades (the 7k one) you do if you plan on keeping your car for many more years to come…

I guess it all depends on what your next move(s) are. Thats alot of $ to put into a transmission, that you will most likely never get back. Id say do a 2k rebuild, call it a day. Does the rebuilt tranny come with a warrenty of any type?

And axles.

Have you met Newman?

and… for all the realists that are worried about what it’ll do to resale value, get over it. Newman could box up a green turd and Beck, or any number of other humpers, would pay a mint for it.

ppg for sure.

Or, another option, take out tranny and dccd system… sell to me so I can put in my car. And use that money to offset the cost of a full tranny.

if money isn’t a big problem, why not go balls out? you’ve gone balls out with the rest of the car…why not keep going?

that is really bad logic. i have it :banghead:

It really depends on your future goals for the car and how hard you drive it consistantly. Are you planning on continuing to up the hp and build the car even more?, or do you plan on keeping it the way it is for a while?

If you plan on keeping it the way its set up now( motor and turbo wise)id just rebuild it or replace it from suby. But if you plan on taking it even further, like you seem to do with all of your cars lol, id go for the Dog box.

idk if it was me i’d get it rebuilt, a new OEM unit makes zero sense since its not going to get covered under warranty regardless.

The dogbox would be fucking sweet, however you KNOW you won’t have the car that long, and for the few times it’ll get run at the track… eh not worth it.

BUT, we had this convo when you were talking about getting the 35r and we know you and I don’t have the same thought process :stuck_out_tongue:

Just get the dog box, It will probly save you $$$ in the long run… You dont want to replace the OEM tranny 2x by the end of the season.

Get the rebuild. $7k to go slightly faster in a straight line is just stupid.

may be true…but it’s more than that. it’s a lot more reliability…which isn’t stupid. plus, if he ever plans on doing more with it (power wise), the rebuilt/new stocker may not make it…

If you get the rebuild its just like having a brand new stock tranny. If your just gonna pound on it why not justget the one for 7k? Thats is just my logic, after all money really is only an object to you as far as I see it. Right?
