Flatscreen TV Thread (Title changed)

If you don’t need the TV to be flat (like your not hanging it on a wall) you should look into a DLP TV. I have a samsung and love it.

As for a warrenty that does NOT cover lamp replacment, thats retarded.

/bulb warranty discussion

I also inquired into it when I bought my DLP projector for the “living room”

just called CC and they sent it to me no questions asked

i dont care about any of this arguing, all i know is SONY SXRD ftMFw

yeah the pic is a bit blurry but you get the idea so gtfo

I’ve had the bulb replaced on my DLP under warranty

i think it’s actually like that.

bbuy is running a few hd tv promotions now… u should get a pretty good deal

who the hell replaces their tv every five years?

you also leave your tv on all day long when youre not home :stuck_out_tongue:

Sweet setup

our warranty covers that, the bulbs like 300 and a tech visit is 80 more, 380 the 3 yr home warranty is 425ish so how ridiculous is that really…

horrible selections for TVs

Plasma
Fujitsu, hitachi or sadly sony

LCD
Hitachi, or sony

toshiba sucks with green and black levels

Samsungs are just horrible picture quality from any good scource, bad scource why bother getting anything more expensive

Phillips, ehh not bad but not great

LG, extremely hit or miss, and that scares me that they cant have consitency from model to model, plus its LG

No name brands-you get what you pay for

www.cnet.com is your friend

ps get the hitachi 42HDX99 I love my 1080i native resolution, but its only noticable with a 1080i scource, than you geth the pioneer elite DV-79AVi, one of the best and affordable universal disc players, plus the burr brown dac is amazing

x2. if you are doing dlp. depending on size sonys KDFE**A10 are the best rear projection LCD for the dollar.

excellent excellnt picture.

i’ve heard bad things about plasma…things like they have to be recharged??

I’ve never read worse advice in my life, based both on personal experience and widely held public opinion.

DLP if you dont need a flat screen.

I’ve got a Samsung 50" DLP and work at Sears. Our Master Protection Agreement is the shit. Certified technicians and go to your house. Parts and labor is covered. Hell for the price of a cup of Starbucks coffee, you have piece of mind knowing you won’t have to go through red tape to get your tv fixed. If you move, you can call any Sears in America and be taken cared of. If you sell the tv, the MPA can be tranfered. did I mention that if you think you’ll be ok and havent used the warranty at all, you can cancel the plan within a year and get your money back.

As far as some help:
http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/S-01fYUqEzn1Y/learningcenter/home/TV_chart.html

I hope that helps a bit.

  1. sony never made a plasma TV
  2. Hitachi never made a LCD TV
  3. Samsung TVs have great pictures brighter then sonys DLPs and

Oh and endless whatsears do you work at, you shoulda caught this one,
Our PAs cover pretty much everything so you dont need to worry.and beyond that first year the refund is prorated,
People have aton of misconceptions about plasma, half life of 60,000hrs thats half so 120,000 hrs on a tv is equal to about 20yrs of tv viewing, the only bad thing is image burn but i dont know anyone who leaves a TV on pause for 3 hours an then resumes the program If you dont beleive me come see me ill prove all that shit you heard on them wrong.

ok wow… this post just showed u have NO TV knowledge

Sony made Plasma televisions for a long time until 2 years ago when they priced themselves out of the market
(sony never produced a panel on their own, thus causing the price differance but there were MANY sony plasma televisions)

the sony KDE42XBR900 comes to mind as we had that in the break room @ CC for 2 years since i installed it

hitachi currently still produces LCD flat panel televisions and they can be found at CC

http://www.hitachi.us/tv/browse/lcd/lcd/dvlcd_index.shtml

Sony never made a DLP only LCD projection and SXRD

just give up

points made, ive never seen a sony plasma, or a hitachi LCD, now that you told me they exist then i stand corrected im sorry. Yes i do know about TVs i dont say that i know every little thing.
