Flip down license plate

Just wondering if anyone has bought or made one of these?

I would like one for my S2000 but dont want to pay the $100+
It cant be too hard to make. A switch, some wire, a bracket, and some kinda of eletronic motor/cylinder to move the plate back and forth.

Anyone know where a eletronic motor/cylinder could be bought? It must be small enough to do the job but be out of sight.

Another reason why I dont want to buy these designs is because mine would be tucked up(in the grill area) and flip down and out.
I guess I could rig it to be upside down or something like that for it to work but
again.

That’s just asking for trouble when you get pulled over for something silly like a tail light out.

EZPass what?

next thing you know, fbi would be at your door.

^ totally worth it to save $.70 in tolls daily.

+1

Start with a 80-96 Caprice rear plate bracket. It’s spring loaded to flip down to access the gas door. Remove the spring and it’s a good base to add your own motor/electronics to.

its not for the tolls
I used to not have a front plate on the S. Then I got pulled over so I put one on.
With this I could flip it down when driving but flip up and away when parked etc
I just hate how they look with front plates

This would work too

this is cool but asking for it

Somewhere there is another kit for an auto darkening license plate cover. Flip a switch and it goes black and flip it back and it goes clear. It’s easier and was cheap from what I remember.

i just dont run a front plate…

grom the looks of it u could use a servo from an rc car. just take a bracket from said car in preavous comment or fabercate your own to a spec you like

Previous and fabricate. Just busting your balls.

I don’t run a front plate either.

WHATS A SERVO FROM AN RC CAR?

X2.

Front plates, meh.

when i put the stepshavers and rollpan on my buddy’s s10 i built a flip up license plate holder for him. its really easy, i got a smaller sized steel hinge from tractor supply, welded a 1" x 1/8" strip to one side with bolt holes for the plate, and welded a square tube to the other side, made it 90* up with a flate plate that bolted to the frame where the bumper used to bolt in. the hinge was stiff enough that when it folded up it would hold itself, but if you wanted to secure it you could just weld another bar 90* off the hinge on the frame side and use one of the lower holes of the plate with a bolt or stud and wingnut. i used mostly scrap pieces i had laying around, but if you bought all the stuff the materials would probably cost about 15-20 bucks. took around an hour to make, only weighed probably like 1-2 pounds if your worried about weight.

I have some nice stainless hinges that would probably work good for this.
