Will the MR depreciate less than the standard? I.E. will it depreciate 5 grand less than the standard while you own it, nullifying the extra cost in the end? Will it depreciate 3 grand less, making it a 2000 dollar option? Either way you still gotta shell out 5 extra grand, but you can justify it that way if you want the extra toys…
The warranty was what worried me. I would of eventually voided it down the line. Maybe in a couple years I’ll buy an “old” Evo VIII and mod the crap out of it. But for now I’ll stick with the old DSM.
If I was buying one tomorrow and had the cash, it would have to be an MR. All the extras definitely don’t cost Mitsu $5,000 extra to put into one, but as aftermarket pricing goes, it would cost more then that to get a regular IX to look and perform as a MR. (And when I say perform, I mean tranny and suspension).

My VIII has HIDs, aluminum hood and fenders, does not the IX?

Does this thread have a point other than “oh woe is me, should I shell out another 5k” or “that newman is a retard” because the title seems to imply we should be talking about the reasons an MR is or isn’t worth the extra 5k?
Don’t suppose anyone asked “why”? As in if you want to go fast, buy an 8 and spend the 5k on go fast stuff. As in if you want to be a pretty boy just to say “hey I drive an MR with HID lights and cool knobby things ont he back”, buy the MR. If you plan on beating the ever living shit out of the car, does it really matter which one you get? You will end up replacing most of the parts anyways.
But maybe that’s just my impression of the situation.
