I am not a walmart expert…I am also not defending walmart in any of this…
but lots of people work far shittier jobs then walmart for the same pay and benefits…I don’t understand at what point in time people were automatically entitled to the american dream with out putting in some effort…
i think it would just because of they amount of $$ walmart brings in as opposed to other places of employment. obviously this happens everywhere, just not on the scale walmart has been doing it the past few years. Walmart is also in the media more-so than “joes grocery store”
We could try communism? I heard they distribute the wealth
This is people trying to force Walmart into allowing them to settle and make walmart a career…There are a number of other jobs you can get with a high school diploma…then you could always follow that up with night school and since your not making shit getting financial aid shouldn’t be that hard…
I thought one of the reasons people came to America was the ability to move up…instead of being stuck in bad/under paid working conditions for life?
walmarts employees arent people looking to move up in the world, they are people who can get jobs no where else and need some sort of income, its their fault for even working there.
the original argument was how this “good deed” that they did is nothing compared to what they have done tax evading wise and not paying money where it is due
if you work at walmart and think u can make a decent living/career out of it then :picard: to you, i dont think many people aspire to be head of a division in walmart
Who says they are not putting in the effort? Not everyone has the same options that you had/have.
Everyone here wants to compare walmart with a pizza place or a McDonalds but its not. The people that they hire are not kids working their way through college. Many of them are mothers and fathers who put in an honest days work hoping to make it better and they can’t.
And its because of walmart.(And by that I mean they can’t get ahead)
The most any walmart employee makes is about $10/hr after years of working there.
If a husband and wife were to work 5 days a week every week of the year they would only bring in $41600 and thats before taxes, and health insurance.
Thats basically poverty level for this day and age.
And thats who they hire. You guys are clueless when it comes to working at walmart. Where are all these magical jobs you guys say that a mother or father can get? I’m not saying they should all live the good life. But an honest days work and a commitment to where you work should pay off sooner or later.
The only people your argument helps is the Walton family.
$41k is a lot of money…If you don’t fucking waste it…
What don’t you fucking understand…If your trying to make ends meet and walmart isn’t enough there are plenty of other places you can get a 8-5 job and move up…Wegman, Tops, McDonalds, Best Buy…
I guess you don’t understand living within your means…and two people taking home 41k is probably a great motivator to go back to school or get into a skilled trade anyways.
not too sure if bestbuy wants old people trying to tell cutomers about up to date electronics . and i guess there is an “image” with working at mcdonalds as opposed to walmart. people would rather be cheated out of money and such than flips burgers for a living:gotme:
America needs a large number of people to only make $10/hour. I also happen to think its very nice that they hire that paraplegic lady to say “hello” upon my arrival and wish me a “good evening” on my departure.
LOL bestbuy is better. srsly you make 9$ an hour to stand there for 8 hours and say hi to people. and half the time he doesnt even say hi, he just gives you the head nod
You ignore so much of what I have written I don’t know why I bother.
So both parents working full time and never taking a day off other than the two you normally get in a 7 day week equals 41k.
Figure that its impossible to do that automatically mean they get paid less than 41k a year. Then add all the taxes you want means you are probably getting paid closer to 32k then add healthcare and your looking below 30k.
And not everyone has the ability to go back to school.
Again, the Walton family thanks you for your support.
How about not getting your self into the situation where walmart is the only place that will hire you…Call a fucking staffing agency they can find you jobs for $9-10 an hour if you have a highschool diploma…
I don’t understand how walmart owes you something…its a fucking shitty jobs…thats what shitty jobs are low pay shitty benefits…like I also pointed out some places don’t offer any health care help…
Sorry your wife had such a bad experience at Walmart…maybe they should have paid her 40k a year…and everyone else so they can pass those costs back onto consumers or do what GM did and just run out of money
Maybe they should pay their employees more and pass that on to the consumers. Then maybe Walmart wouldn’t be able to destroy local businesses as much, maybe allow for some more competition. Maybe by paying the employees of the countries number one employer more you might see some more people being able pay their credit card debt, save up for school, and not live off of welfare. I think Walmart can afford it and still make an easy profit.
I’m not saying you should see a $25/hr sale associate. But if you work for a company for over 5 years your pay should reflect that.
And my wifes experience is not an isolated incident by any means. You truly don’t know what you are talking about when it comes to employee relations at walmart.
