Iv always noticed that things were more expensive at Wegmans
the people arguing for walmart seem to have no education into how they go about business, where they stand in local communities and how many people they affect OUTSIDE of employees
people assume that, but are you really sure?
generally i think there is more benefits to shopping at tops when using your bonus card such as cheaper prices and also the whole gas deal they have going on…
i dont prefer one store over the other tho.
As for their employees, i like how wegmans runs things and they also have A LOT of opportunities for people seeking jobs along with benefits for many highschool/college students
It’s almost as if some things are cheaper at tops and some are cheaper at wegmans…
Im not arguing for walmart…I just think Union enable people to turn jobs into careers…
^Exactly, but im not going to waste 3hours searching thru ad’s or waste gas/time driving back and forth between stores to save 3-10cents on an item. might as well pick one store and do all your shopping there.
if you generally get the same items everyweek just shop at one store one week and the other the next? Even doing that its hard to tell, each store is always going to be having their own sales, generally i’ve found the bill to be about even
Generally the people at walmart who work their have no other choice, if you look at the general employees they are kids who have just gotten out of college and put no use to their degrees, old folks, or single parents that have no other choice but to keep their shitty job because they cannot afford to take the risk of not having a paycheck to support their family.
people shouldnt be trying to support their families by working at walmart tho lol.
the union should be just there to help them with benefits, walmarts insurance for employees is rediculous. its like 70$ a week out of their 250$ check, there is no way people can afford to live like that, which is why most turn to government aid
X2 On everything.
I think walmart has it perfect… even without a degree of any kind you should be able to get a better job with enough effort.
I call working at walmart a “darwin job” because if you accept this as “good enough employment”, then enjoy your “good enough benefits”
do you think walmart is the first choice of people when they apply places lol?
no, but I consider it a short term job until you get a better one. what better motivation to find a better job.
walmart’s motto is falling prices, not raising them by giving our employees better perks.
it doesnt matter the quality of the job, or the skill level required, they should still be treated good as employees
Why?
They are paid minimum wage which the government sets.
They are not in any danger in the work place based OSHA regulations.
A lot of other people work complete shit jobs the same money…
"Medical Coverage
Every associate who works in the United States can become eligible for individual health coverage costing as little as $5 per month in some areas and as little as $8 per month nationwide. As soon as an associate becomes eligible for benefits, their children become eligible too.
Today, more than 92 percent of associates have health insurance—either through us or through other coverage. For our associates who choose coverage with Wal-Mart, we also offer more than 2,400 generic prescription drugs for $4. This includes prescription drugs to treat everything from diabetes to heart disease.
Wal-Mart associates will find more than 50 ways to customize their health coverage. They can select from a menu of deductibles, health care coverage options, and health credits and premiums.
We want associates and their families to have the peace of mind that their healthcare needs will be met, especially when they need it most. To ensure that peace of mind, Wal-Mart’s health coverage includes no lifetime maximums on most health care expenses.

Grow Your Future
We believe in our associates’ futures. Last year, we put $870 million into associates’ Profit Sharing and 401(k) Plan accounts. We do this whether or not an associate chooses to contribute.
We also make it easy for associates to have an ownership in the company. The Associate Stock Purchase Program allows associates to purchase stock without most brokerage fees. Plus, we match a portion of their purchases.
Wal-Mart Success = Your Success
Every associate is eligible to receive performance bonuses based on the performance of their store. We also offer a long-term service award, which rewards hourly associates and assistant managers who have been with the company for 20 years or more with an extra week of pay."
401k/Profit sharing

4$ drug plan

they should be getting minimum wage you’re right.
but walmart cheats employees out of their overtime hours
Do you think these people working can afford to take the largest retailer in the world to court over their 50$ they lost? In every case, walmart has had court dates postponed, prolonged and everything else to get the employee to give up. And when they do finally reach the point where they might get sued, they settle off trial to keep their “image”.
theygive no benefits whatsoever, health insurance is FAR to expensive considering their income/insurance cost ratio. Walmart encourages employees to be on government aide, i think somewhere between 60-70% of their employees are (not including old people). And walmart is the richest company in the world, they can afford to give back to their employees with some kind of decent coverage
Look at the cost of the drug plan/health insurance, and do you think the employees actually have enough to put away for a 401k lol
Guess what…
That happens anywhere you make minimum wage you get fucked on health insurance…

$5? $8?
i have never worked at these places… but do they offer health coverage at pizza places, mcdonalds and that?
and when do they become “eligible” for these benefits?
