Q1: everytime i pump up gas i smell it when i turn the car off, i took my car to cdn tire and put it on the hoist and seen a gas leak driping near my sparetire area…anyone kno what it could be?
Q2: i beleive its 5 lines the run through the engine bay to the underbody…its mad rusty…anyone know what those lines are and where i can go to replace them besides the dealership
one pressure line
one return line
one vapour line
could be the sending unit…could be the seem, could be in the middle… cant really say till u drop the tank.
take off the fuel pump cover in the trunk, then look in there for leaks. its the most common because theirs rubber hoses that are over 15 years old. hoses can crack and fittings can leak.
just fallow the leak to the highest spot. If you have to drop the tank, its really easy to do. 2 bolts that hold the straps on and away you go.
um yea you will lose some fuel but wont be extreme, probably max of 1/4 litter. just do it with the car off or else you will have problems. I think your safest bet is to change those hoses and clamps. then if it doesnt help, you know its the steel lines.
yeah its safe maybe ur tank is leaking. just make sure u have the tank supported when u take the straps off. if it has alot of gas in it try taking as much as u can out , makes it less heavy.
