I have a 1989 240sx and it has a 1991 ka24de engine in it. Would i be able to qualify my car as a hotrod for the e-test? if i can what would i have to do ?
no it wont the engine has to be different then a 2.4L
the ka24de was never offered in the 1989 model though ? if it were a bigger or smaller engine it would qualify?
the Ka24e from the (89-90) is still a 2.4L so it does not change anything the sr guys can do it because the sr is a 2.0L
what do u do tho, just tell the guy? does it / could it get back to your insurance (car is modified)?
Why if it’s a stock KA, (DE or not) would you want to get it tested as a hot-rod? It’ll pass in stock form. Hell, an SR will too if you want it to.
Just get it tested as normal, if you have a motor that is actually running right you should not have any problems passing.
a newer dohc motor should not be more polluting than the older sohc… why would you think otherwise?
