The whole idea of trying to compell people to buy American cars out of social obligation is a purely socialist ideal. Funny that the people who chant that are also typically the ones with American flags on the rear window of their pickups. Poor confused little guys…
I like buying American because it supports Mexico and might keep some of them from coming to the US illegally.

i under stand your point but … i do not find it valid it. have you ever read the book XYZ worker…? here is some more information on overseas unions.
Meh, just my understanding of things. I may very well be wrong. There’s a first time for everything afterall. :gotme:

“working” is loosely thrown around at any GM plant. They are “at” work for alot of hours…but dont do 40-80hrs worth of work. Thats a fact. ESP. the skilled trade.

THANK YOU!!!
i know so many people who “work” for GM that sweep the damn floors and clean the damn bathrooms make more money than i do. I have 2 college degrees, run a dealership and work 60-65 hours a week these assholes sit on their butts all day making $50 an hour!!!
The only people who deserve those wages and benefits are the employees who EARN it!!! If they don’t go into work to support the company they should be fired. if they spent more time supporting the company and not worrying about themselves they wouldn’t have to worry about keeping their jobs.
I don’t work for GM, should have said that before.
Yes - the same as below can be said for EVERY COMPANY. however, in every company, there are countless people who do no good, waste resources, and actually take away from the end goal. (whether it be by waster salary, counter-productivity, or just causing a horrible work atmosphere). But, every company keeps these people, because they either suck some good office balls, or the “management” just doesn’t realize that they have no competence or useful abilities.

Because I am nice enough to give you a job and pay you for the work you have done I am now some how responsible for the rest of your life?!?!?!?
No wonder jobs are going over seas.
Some of these posts are un-fucking-believable.
If you are pulling in UAW money and you are too retarded to save for retirement you should be shot because you are wasting oxygen.
If you feel bad for them then buy a GM and you will be giving $5000 to their retirement.(When I say “them” I am talking about the ones that are ALREADY retired!)
What really gets me pissed off is that we have 3 GM dealerships (I should have introduced myself, I’m a Basil) and the employees we have work their asses off to sell and service as many cars as they can and not only are they getting hurt but the dealership could close and if the strike goes on long enough we could lose everything that we have worked for in the last 3 generations of my family and not one of those employees is thinking about dealers across the country in the same position and the employees that work for them. look at how many dealerships closed just in WNY? Thats not just GM, I’m talking about the big 3, and there is more stores that are going to close. That I know for a fact.

you don’t pay UAW money. what do you pay? if its a shitty 8-10 an hour hourly wage, then what exactly are they saving?

:bloated:
Me thinks you missed the point Joe.
nah, i caught the point, but wanted to shift the question to him. For every union worker that’s overpaid there’s a non-union counterpart that’s underpaid and under-equipped with benefits, yet still expected to somehow survive later in life. If corporations don’t want to pay for them to do so, we’re all going to be when we get a huge generation of old poor people.
honestly…fuck it break the union
US should be a service and high-end/specialty manufacturing country anyway.
You know what we should manufacture? Innovation.
Design, Develop, Perfect, Get made on the cheap in another country, import and profit. Profits pay for universal health care and a living wage, everyone wins.
Interesting little NY Times article:
“Collectively, your efforts have saved General Motors billions of dollars, while at the same time your work in your facilities has helped the company set world-class standards of safety, quality and productivity,” Cal Rapson, a union vice president, said in a memo sent to union members. “All we asked for in return is simple fairness: the right to job security, commitments of future product investment, a fair economic settlement and adequate benefits.”
GM has lost 12 billion dollars in the last 2 years, but they can somehow guarantee anybody’s job security?
I dunno. GM’s fucked. One way or another, the same company won’t exist in a few more years.
But joestypes has hit the nail on the head. The rest of the world can do our old labor-type work cheaper. We have to look higher.

I agree, but our students need to stop getting their asses handed to them by their foreign counterparts in science, math, engineering in order to implement it

hey… I did not know you worked with me
that atmoshpere turns good employees into shitty employees.

Back to work. :whip:

you would think that way, and that would be a good start.
all america can really offer is lead time.
if your parts are made 30 locally, with near immediate deliveries, we can deliver products as needed.
Its not the same china it was when we were kids and they
just offshored manufacturing. china is the 1st to offer technologicaly advanced products at 3rd world prices.
i would love to see my place use the approach of design, develope, and prove the mproduct, then offshore it.
but, how to you fight greedy corporations stretching for every cent to be saved. at the end of the day, your competitors will exploit the opportunity to undercut you.
SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!
Maybe now they will build Wifeys Sky!!!
