Going 2 sizes smaller on the SRT, thoughts?

Ive run rotas for a few years now with no problems so i dunno i like um lol

Sidewall looks good on there. What will it cost for a set of the 15s with DRs as opposed to 16s?

Looks tough

15’s have less expensive tires compared to the bigger sizes also

I’m not too sure on cost yet, the only thing I have priced out was a new set of 15 x 7 slips for $530. I think I have my wheels sold now, so I may put my car in my garage on jackstands for a while, until I get a new set. It would be great if there was a group buy, or a good deal used online. I certainly don’t mind saving money, heh.

and its not that they break, its more how they break.

Hence why I also stated what ever has the better tire selection, but do not put this directly on a weight savings as the reason to go to a 15 inch rota

why not go 15’s and get a better wheel to save even more weight tho?

even a semi-decent wheel in 17" can be down to that weight

fixed.

Rota slips are pretty darn light. Sure, the original Spoon SW388 were lighter, but at triple the cost…

I want to say the 15x8 slipstream should be 12-14lbs; there aren’t many 17x8s near that at any cost.

Dymag is the only thing to comes to mind.

I’d rather not spend $10k+ on wheels.

deathproof just put 15’s on his srt-4 and it looks good. do it

I like the idea of 15s, sexy.

I’d run 15’s if they’d clear my brakes. Do it.

meh

your doing this just to go faster? so your going to save 20lbs overall? gut the thing to the bones if you want to get faster for no $$$. proly could save 200lbs easy gutting the interior alone

maybe he doesn’t want to gut the interior :gotme:

Read the thread. Less weight, better tire selection, better wheels overall. Plus taking off 20lbs of rotating mass (or more) is going to be very noticeable.

I have a couple of 15" wheels and tires you could try and see how it would look. I currently have 15" snows on my srt that i think ar 60 series. It feels like I am driving on jello compared to the 17". I also have the rims and tires from my charger and the slicks mounted on the rims I bought from you. I think my charger has 50 series tires in the back and BFG drag radials up front.

my thought is just get two for the front with true slicks… swap at the track… this way you can have a car that’s fun to drive on the street also.

I’d run rotas on a track car or street car all day long… the lighter wheels get, the more likely they are to fail. that’s why many rims focused around track cars are not intended for the street where pot holes can cause expensive or dangerous conditions.

The car is going to need the DRs on the street too or else it’ll just be tire smoke. The old green neon ate a set of RT615s in under a month…

And since Mark doesn’t turn corners, the DRs would be the “fun on the street” tires.

That is why I run them on my charger on the street. I swap them out for slicks for the track.
