anyone file for one lately?? I am trying to figure all cost involved in just getting the permit. also the time factor. anyone know any short cuts. from what I gather its takes about 6months to a year now and cost around 200 for the class, paperwork and finger printing.

is that for a carry permit or just for owning one for target practice

yyou can apply for a carry all if you have a good reason to have it, IE:owning ur own business, carry large sums of money, etc… they are very strict about giving them out right away tho, usually u have to reapply in a year if you have good reason. My class was free, and it cost me about 130 bucks when all said and done, pictures, fees, etc…

It took me 9 months to get mine, erie county is the hardest in the state to get one, they check everything, and i mean everything, better have some good refrences you need 4 IIRC.

And those references all have to live in Erie County, and need to have known you for at least 3 years, might be 5 (can’t remember).

What are reasons they could turn you down for one?

Past convictions, violent crimes.

the biggest is DOMESTIC VIOLENCE… or any kind of robbery or arson.

i got a book from my cop friend, then i took the test, no class…lol

he vouched that i took the class.

anything on your record thats bad you will be turned down, like i said erie cty is the hardest county to get a permit in NY

clean record and I know a cop or 2. 6-8 months or longer sucks, but I guess that gives me time to save up for a glock wit da laser beam

I live in Florida now, the worst i’ve had which have been all acd’s eventually dismissed have been for like disorderly conduct being drunk downtown.

think I would have a problem with that?
