GV1390's Trattoria "Racer"

TY sir! I do really like the 4:4 factory systems but it’s simply too heavy for this build. My 750 has a 4:1 as it’s a Super Sport. Maybe Ben will sell me another CB550 to add to the stable that has the factory 4:4. But then again, I’d like to add an Italian motorcycle to my line-up next, I feel like it’s obligatory.

I hear what you’re saying. There are some nice Guzzi’s on Ebay from time to time.

I’d really like a Duc next, maybe a 90’s one.

Looking good!

This is looking stupid good. Also, I fully support the Duc idea as you know.

When I move back to NY i’ll have to take one of the other Honda’s off your hands!

Ty, sir!

Ouch… on a Monday no less…

I probably just won’t move back

Awesome bike.

any updates on this? I love this build lol

Odd timing, got the seat mounted up last night.

I made the seat bracket and tabs, had @newman weld on the tabs for me, thanks again!

Ditched the exhaust setup as I’ll be running a Ripple Rock Racers Hindle setup from my buddy Kemp.

Still have the following to do:
*Fabricate a rear ventilated aluminum panel under my seat cowl for R&R placement
*Complete wiring harness from scratch with supporting diagram
*New triple trees with corrected offset - which means new holes for indicators, re-make an ignition switch bracket and also add turning stops
*Decide what tank emblems to run
*Address kick start lever issue as it interferes with my rear brake rearset
*Finish the front portion of my seat mounting
*Clutch cable
*Make a rear tire hugger “fender”
*Bleed front brake, add fluids, double and triple check all bolts, adjust valves, etc

Kinda torn if I want to run a 1/4 or 1/2 fairing…I don’t in a way as that’s the typical Cafe Racer theme and also because I don’t want to take away from the awesome headlight I’m running. Maybe I’ll use that as an excuse to build my other CB550F.

Get me measurements of under seat tray, and what ya want. I can make something at work

I already have an underseat tray that hides behind the frame as it’s the same width. That needs to be cut up for the front of the seat mounting but I really don’t like how heavy it is. I’d like something out of aluminum if possible in that regard if I want to switch that up. I was referencing the actual “hump” on the rear portion of my seat. Going to make a flat panel like alumium piece that ends right where the seat tabs are welded onto the frame.

How bad is the conflict between kick start and rear set… and did you retain factory electric start? I forgot.

It hits about half of the toe peg, decent chunk for sure. I’m thinking, the lever will need to be cut off and welded on at a different angle while also clocking the swivel portion that slides over the splines. I ditched electric start, kick-only.

Nice job brotatos clean build

I just re read this entire thread and I’m truly impressed with how much work has gone into this. I can’t wait to see it finished.

Thank you, sir!

She’s back in my shop finally. Still have a ton of work to go - shooting for summer at some point. Currently have a friends CB, myself and @focusinprogress will be building quickly. Stoked for more vintage motorcycles in the area.

Need some color opinions…

So, I don’t like the rise in the clip-ons that are currently on my CB. I went with them as I figured it would be more comfortable to ride…then again, you don’t build a bike like this for comfort so they will be getting ditched.

For starters, these triple trees are ordered (to correct the offset) which will remain bare aluminum in color or can be anodized in black…

I also have a set of these on the way:

Thoughts on the above combo with silver clip-ons?

Also, may be ditching the gold front end for a black GSXR one, if that helps with color decisions.

SIGH.

What socks will you be wearing?

Color or brand, sir?
