Has anyone used a injection system cleaner?

use the line coming off the throttle body. the one near the radiator cap.

sucking water in through a vac line > pouring it in the intake tract

Brake cleaner and fuel injector cleaner rarely contain the same hyrdocarbons.

Wow, I’ve never heard of this and I’m intrigued/scared/interested/mortified all at once. I have this feeling that if I try it my engine will stall and I’ll come back to you all going “haha got ya! now your motor’s fu(ked!”

My first thought was to the idea of how submerging a CAI in a puddle can ruin your engine. The difference must be that you’re adding SOME water, not saturating the engine. Not too much, so that it can vaporize on compustion? Do I have the theory right?

a cai in a puddle means all your car is sucking up is water, which leads to hydrolock. Getting somewater in there will not hurt anything. There are companies that sell H2O spray kits (think nitrous kit) that help keep a car from detonating.

Hmm… So a quick and easy way to clean stuff out could be to pop off the intake tube, wipe out the TB with a rag and some cleaner like regane (I’ll trust ZD on this one, I’ve read a lot of his posts and have come to the conclusion that he’s a no-nonsense kind of guy (read:blunt) and he knows his shit.) Then start the car, spray some regane in through the TB, then suck a gallon of distilled water in through a vacuum line.

You probably wouldn’t want to suck an entire gallon of water. More like a liter AT MOST.

And you don’t really need to distill it…

like a said … my fiero NEEDED 8 full liters of water b4 it was actualy cleaned out

the exhaust cloud would go from looking like it was a factory chimney to looking lik the steam off a pot of water …thats when i would stop

any less then that and it would still run like shit for me

gotta do what ya gotta do

sears does runrites now also. i was skeptical at first (i figured they poor in 3 spots there probably not that efficent) so we brought my cobalt in and ran the runrite through it. i definatly felt a better throttle response off it. its on sale at 69.99 will stay there till sears sells out of there first shipment of the system cleaner. the reasoon i like it is theres no alchol in it and 64 % detergent. iam not trying to sell anyone on this just throwing the info out there

lol I really would suggest being careful just trying to suck water into your motor…I realize it will work…but your going to also have to add RPMs while doing this so you don’t bog out and stall the motor possibley hyrdolocking it.

If your trying to do a top end cleaning to get carbon out of the top end use seafoam or whatever…

If your trying to clean the throttle body and sensors use some sort of throttle body cleaner that is sensor safe.

Your probbley not looking for a product like seafoam…or other top end cleaners…just look for a throttle body cleaner.

Welworth makes a good product to clean TBs its called Top shot shoot me a PM if you want a can funky.

GM top engine cleaner is the best stuff out here for induction or injection cleaning, throotle body you can use carb and choke cleaner or brake clean, do it w/rag, engine off

I have access to some great solvents. :snky:

when i worked at valvoline we sold run rite there… people seemed to be happy with um especialy with the gas prices like they were over summer

I used runrite on my old tbird/sc… helped throttle response greatly

(then again, the car had alot of miles… sat for a long time and was old… so anything done to it probably would have helped lol)

i have used k-100g but thats just an additive in the gas tank…stuff is amazing though

i told u months ago in this thread what to do and where to go
