…Or you can look into the lifters thing since your issue sounds just like the issue both of the Subaru’s we’ve owned (and numerous others I’ve heard) had…I’m stickin to that…
I’m stabbing in the dark here…since I’m no engine expert really…but maybe running some Gumout or Seafoam through the gas tank might ‘unstick’ if something is indeed sticking?
Gils says lifters too.
and it did, compression test was PERFECT, 225 all across ( si has high compression 11:1 )
Can you take a video of the sound?
How can they say you “over-revved” the car? If its stock it has a rev-limiter correct?
Have you checked the heat shields to make sure they aren’t rattling?
No heat shields on my car.
i’d just bring it to a good shop and stay the fuck away from any dealership at all costs. dealers flat out suck dick. they will backpeddle anything they can to avoid compensating you. they are not your friends.
if you are confident that the sound is coming from the cylinder head, i’m almost willing to bet, a bent valve or 2… typical symptom of an over rev or moneyshift. i have 2 destroyed s50 motors sitting in my garage dude to moneyshifters. there is another m54 dead at the shop from a moneyshift as well. had compression in all cylinders but cylinder #2 which had like -25 psi. guess what? chunk taken out of that piston. typical valve float issues here. there are handfuls of people who can’t handle driving a manual. i see it every single day.
i’m through doing pro-bono work or else i’d offer my services. any competent shop can diagnose your issue. without the car being right in front of me it is 100% speculation.
do a compression test and confirm it is making good equal compression across the board. after that you can rule out a lot of your doubts. like i said, get it diagnosed properly. describing the problem through text on a forum to a bunch of dudes who can barely turn a wrench is not the way to go at it.
end rant/
Compression test ruled out bent valves.
Totally wrong, don’t anyone listen to this guy. Don’t beat on your engine until the temp gauge has been in the normal operating range for at LEAST a few minutes.
Trish, aren’t you the one bitching that VTEC does not work when cold? This problem happened due to some sort of neglect. Do a compression test and go from there.
I never “bitched” about VTEC not working when cold, I simply said its a known fact and that its good that it doesnt, and that I didnt bother racing someone cause my engine was cold, reference my post if u need to.
so much bad info in these posts holy shit ,trish the k20,s are good for spun bearings they sound like a tick but it travels threw the whole motor .the best way of narrowing down a spun lower end is to start the car at idle pull a injector plug and listen to see if the noise gets quieter do that to all cyl,s if ya find one thats the rod that spun ,ya do that to ttake the load off the cyl during its firing stroke is it foolproof no ya really need to get it to a shop and properly diagnosed .do not take it toa tire center and let some tire jockey look at it they will tell ya it needs a wheel bearing as there retarted lololol.yes dealers can void warr do to aftermarket add ons ,do all do it no but most will esp now that the economy is slow and lookin for money.the only cars that have a overrev sensor in em was ford as there junk .trish if ya can call my shop tommorow at 664-1290 ask for john ill see if i can get ya in and look at it benny will tell ya we are top notch and wont fuck ya over shit i prolly wont even charge ya to look at it
Thanks for the advice!:thumbup Compression test was perfect!
If its from bent valves it happened from a mishift.
I highly doubt its a bearing rattle.
Unless a real idiot at mohawk honda diagnosed it they are probably correct. Don’t listen to the service writers about ecu codes and such, sometimes they don’t know much and make shit up as they go along
Either way don’t drive around much as you are pushing your luck with making things a lot worse then they are.
Well they were " confident " that it was a bent valve and they were wrong:retardclap
Yes that would be me, on Tuesdays I go to see my bf up at Gils garage for lunch.
