Rotaries are not more efficient than piston motors.

Are you kidding me right now? Fuel consumtion wise maybe not with factory tuning. However, as far as HP to CC ratio rotaries have recips beat. Think about it a little. Less mass to rotate. Less parts stoping and going, about umm… like 4000 times a minute(on average unless your beating it). Serriously, do some homework on the subject rotaries if built, tuned, and maintained properly are a hell of alot better. Granted they might not last 300k like some of my V8’s but they will hit 200k whitle getting the crap beat out of them(again if maintained, modded and tuned propperly.

thanks dude i was thinking about bringing the car into hybrid. it is so close to running. how much does something like this cost? i know this is kind of general but humor me. bye the way im the guy who bought matt’s audi. i talked to some guys about bringing the car in before.

Go to Swereve Motorsports man. i hear nothing but good things about them.

Ya they are sensitive but far more durable then a piston motor.

First we had motocrossx23, then came speedpud. Ladies and gentleman of NYSpeed I give you our next Fall 2007 window licker: mechanicalmadness.

Just to warn you, MPD47 is going to suggest that you dead yourself. Might be worth considering.

Windows are awesome. So what exactly makes me a window licker? Lack of spelling talent? Sure. What else do you have on me? Oh ya, maybe it’s the 2 minute windows in between class work that I have to type smack in. I used to be, and still love V8’s but face it, a propperly built rotary motor is far superior to anything piston powered. Love them or hate them it’s a fact.

Its just fascinating then that nearly every rotary on this board has blown up.

/end of discussion.

My POS ford sohc 4.0v6 has over 226k on the original plugs, timing set, headgaskets and still goes strong.

thanks for the tips mechanicalmadness

As long as you aren’t dumb enough to put a turbo on a rotary, they’re just fine. Wouldn’t go so far as to say they’re better though.

Not knowing the history of NYspeed users with rotaries I’d have to say you have one on me. But as usual I’m going to have to say consider the source. All the built rotaries I have seen in my time have lasted a verry long time, and at that under extremely abusive conditions.
