I’m going to be driving down to Florida and I want to buy GPS for the trip. Just kinda scared of wasting money on one that doesn’t have certain important features or one that might get confused and send me in the wrong direction. Any reccommendations would be appreciated, thanks!

Buy the most baller one you want, go on your 2 week trip, bring it back to the store within 30 days of purchase because “you just didn’t like it”. 100% refund. Yes I have done this with 3 different ones until I found one I liked.
So pick whatever one you want and “borrow” it for 30 days.
hmmm…i didn’t think that something like that would fly ^^^^. you can borrow the older one I have if you want for the trip. I would send you with mine but I use it way to often to be without. (magellan)
its not the machine as much as it is the software you want.
i happen to like the iGo 8/9 navigaon software the best. the newer navigon software with the zagat shit isn’t nearly as good.
I went to bestbuy.com and read reviews on some, but some people complain about no text to speach and telling you to turn at the wrong times and idk just figured I would see if anyone has one they use that works well.
I have a garmin Nuvi 200W. think it was on sale for like 130-150. It is the cats ass. I love it.
downfall- i was annoyed that it did not come with a usb cord(had to buy seperate). without the usb cord you cannot register it or update it. They noramally come with 1 free update. I thought it was shitty that i couldnt even register it without buying a cord.
This thing works awesome, if i’m out on the road i can type in names under places tim hortons(or restaurants etc…) and it will find any locally

LOL, well I can use my iPhones GPS, but it would be nice to have gps where it shows your real time location on each road/high so you can judge where you are, I figured gps would be worth it. So I can get around more accurately and not waste as much time.

Do you mean next update? My iphone has edge network so it gets annoying waiting for it to load the maps and roads/directions.
I go a week from today should be fun, but I’m interested in gps so when I need gas I can just get the closest to my location and continue my way, also like going to the beach whenever I want just find places more efficently.
I really like the Garmin nuvi series. I’ve compared to tomtom and magellan and I prefer it. Plus, I got mine for free for opening a Discover card.
I never thought about registering a GPS.
This would not be a good thing for a thief to steal. lol
the new iphone coming out any day now has better hardware including a compass allowing the phone to be good enough to work as a full blown gps including point by point turns… google it.
it’s pointless unless plugged into a computer… it’s not like the GPS is two directional and they can pinpoint it.
I have a cheap TomTom the only downside is trying to drive around DC with it…You don’t get directions fast enough. I ended up driving around the circle at Arlington cemetery 10 times one morning.
LOL, I read garmin is better then tomtom, I forget the model but it’s at bestbuy it’s a garmin for 139.99 might buy it, probly on the website but I’m on my iPhone.
