Hit and Run - Please Advise

Well, it was a long night. March 3, 2007, my vehicular accident cherry had been popped.

Right as I was about to leave for Shorteaz’s house, I finish dinner at my Grandparents, open the driver’s side door of the “Purple-pimp-mobile”, and “Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrr”, my heart stopped.

Low-and-behold, I was greeted by this:

- Dented fender, driver-side door, and dammit, those bastards took a piece of my ballin-hubcaps too. No information on windshield, no one at scene. Unfortunately, I wasn't on scene to witness the hit, but I did have my camera. Noticing a few 'trails' I immediately shoot the hell out of my Point-and-shoot. Though not concrete evidence, I highly suspect it's the house, directly across from the roadway. (My rather large family eats dinner at my grandparents every week, and this has happened to the 'fleet' of cars on more than one occasion)

We call up the non-emergency line to report the hit-and-run, a cop shows up a few hours later. Pictures shown, we’re told to leave. He says he’ll investigate further. The suspected household will not answer when the cop rings their bell (They are present in the house though, I personally saw a nice Audi pull in to the driveway, and into the garage. I exchanged ‘stares’, but decided not to confront, as I was way beyond my level of patience and boiling point at that point, and decided that I will not start a confrontation, as I was unstable.

The second I saw Grimace injured, I let out a slew of Chinese profanity, and apologized to a nearby couple. I’m not a vulgar person by nature, but I couldn’t stand to see my baby (even if it is just an Accord) in such bad shape- (Kept in pristine condition, inside and out, by yours truly. Beautiful for a 2001 car) as I am obsessive with all the little details.

In the line of work that I do, I hold integrity as my top priority. From this experience, I am actually devastated at the level of cowardly demeanor that this household has shown. I understand that it’s wrong to assume it was them (despite suggestions as shown in the pictures), but they actually pretended to not be home, when the cop showed up. They arrive back home, all lights turn on, then suddenly, all off.

End of rant, hopefully karma takes its path.

Some of the suspect trails:

So I come to you TNC, for your advice and input.

  • Is there anything else that I can do at this point? (Reported, an officer came and said he’d investigate further)
  • If I filed with insurance, will my premiums or star-rating be affected?

Thanks all, any advice/input would be greatly appreciated!

To cliffnote

  • Parked my car alongside of a side street
  • Came out 1 hour later, discovered that I was victim to a hit-and-run

Off-topic
What a surprise, going off-topic in my own thread!

Angelica, I’m surprised you even have Ontario plates, you live in the middle of nowhere! I actually reached Innis Rd and King St before I realized I had gone too far!

sorry to hear that, but unless you have some concrete evidence, then nothing you can do. i know how it feels, as my car has been the victim of 2 hit and runs, one such as the currect state of the car now.

damn thats sucks!

i sure hope karma does come back after this guy/girl who did this.

This happened to my cousin a year back, same street, different household. They refused to take responsibility, the cop then asked the family whether or not they’d object to take a sample of their paint-transfer to see if it matches that of my cousin’s vehicle. They caved in the end.

Any advice/insight as to what the insurance company will settle on if I should go that route? (Calling tomorrow morning)

that suckkkss…im surprised the police did that…usually wen it comes to non-emergency matters…they dont like doing much about things…or they take their sweet time

haha u guys havee noooo idea wat middle of nowhere is…im just city outskirts

Fortunate for him, the owners actually had the balls to come out and try to place the blame on my cousin; or something along the lines of that. Besides, I think it was more of a bluff than anything.

Woman, when I hit that Innis Rd, I felt like I was in Saskatchewan…

baahh ppl are retarded…theyll get their own

haha i dont even know this innis rd lol

That blows. I has once parked outside a hotel in the Falls. Came out to go get some coffe found 2 grand damage to the front of the Spec V. Called my insurance (state farm). I was told because it was a hit and run my premium would not go up, though I would have to pay the 500 dollar deductable.

hey, i was a vitim of a hit and run case too

heres what happend

  1. person next to me was coming out of the parking spot, looked to be a girl learning to drive stick

  2. accelerated too fast and hit the rear left side of the bumper and the rim

  3. dented in the whole rear fender and bumber

  4. when i heard the loud clash and my alarm go off. i rat out to the balcony at the building i was at and started calling the person back

  5. they did not stop, just took off and i managed to get their plate number

  6. went to the station, made a report…and the officer told me the same thing that he told you. that they would investigate it further …and its been like 6 months now and nothing has happend i had to partially fixed the car myself.

the irony of the story is that i suspect the people that hit my car lives on the floor right above the apartment i was in , i always see this stupid kid driving around in that same civic…and i cant do anyhting about it, because im afraid they will take it out on my grandmother, (i was at my g-mas apartment) and she lives alone…

****ing bastards up to this day im still so pissed

cant really see it good but the whole fender is punched in
