GT2 was with Walter Rohl behind the wheel. Crying Baby Jesus that’s fast.
For reference, the Carrera GT did a 7:28 and the GT3RS (997) did a 7:41.

I’m a died in the wool F body guy (minus the mullet), but that car is F’in Hot
Amazing time for sure.
I wonder why they didn’t put the Z06’s time of 7:42.9 there, probably because it still makes it look overpriced.

Actually it has more to do with the Z06’s 7:42 being a “special” car built just for the time, Autobild and several others have tested it and it’s in the 7:51.x range. Chevy Cheater car FTL (what’s hilarious is I’ve even heard this confirmed from GM insiders).
can you elaborate? specifically on the special build

My Z06 is special too. :lolham:
X…
It wasn’t much more than a good set of tires and possibly some suspension tweaks. No more than most manufacturers do…
Brent pretty much summed it up, though I’ve been hearing slight retune, but that’s probably a load.
The pcars are run in stock trim as most of the mags have been able to get within a couple seconds of Walter Rohl.
chevy cheater car, thats funny, a bit bitter that chevy almost kicked a porsche ass?
I saw that, its pretty damn crazy
and yes the Z06 was a “cheater car” it had better tires, but other than that it was stock.

You are so ignorant it’s hilarious. 10 seconds at any track is a long time, at Nurburgring, hahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahaahha gasp hahahahahaha. Especially running a tweaked car vs a stock car. Ask anyone what I think of the C5 Z06 or the C6, hell I told Xander not to buy an M3 and get the Z06. But to say that it even holds a candle to the GT2 is a joke in any field other than price point.
Tires can make as much of a difference in time on a track as huge power gains.

someday in some world you will be able to talk about a Porsche without being heckled…just never here on Nyspeed.
 so true. Which is why I’m on two of the bigger pcar boards so I can talk without being heckled by ignorance.
BuickGN just wants to compare a car with suspension tweaks and DOT R tires to cars that are showroom stock. Which I think is hilarious, I’m happy to compare race cars to race cars… oh wait, which manuf. holds the lap record at the ring?
I don’t know what either of you are arguing about. They are both good cars.
The fact that the Z06 with “tweaks” (i.e. tweaks that any knowledgeable enthusiast could do) will put it within 5 seconds of a GT2 is astounding for the cost difference in the cars. Obviously those runflat tires suck so they changed them.
The reason Porsche doesn’t have to tweak their cars is because they are a German company that regularly tests at that track, and they have been testing there longer. The only time an American company tests there is if they are building a supercar/sports car like a Ford GT, Z06, or Viper. Porche probably build the 911s with the Ring in mind, which is why they are “stock”.
I’d buy a GT2 in a heartbeat if I had the money.
I’d buy a GT3 in a heartbeat if I had the money.
If I had to buy something today though, it would be the Z06 because I can at least afford that car payment + a new set of tires and the performance is definitely comparable.
Props to both cars.
