HORRIBLE NOISE...LIKE NAILS ON A CHALKBOARD...any ideas?

I think my rear pass. shock is blown. Cause its dropped significantly, and the tire rubs here and there.

there is also a black goopy grease on the tire/rim… so I solved that problem.

but one of the wheels on the car makes a horrible annoying screeching/squealing noise. AND ITS LOUD…REALLY REALLY LOUD! and its reallly…really bad. I re-did tyhe new pads in the front…so im thinking maybe the backs are acting up? Can someone help me diagnose thise?

oh and when i apply brake pressure…the squealing stops.

so…any ideas?

its a 95 jetta 2.0L

thanks guys

Sounds like it could be the scrape plates on the pads. If you have rear disc check those out.

i think its a wheel bearing. it is REALLY BAD. The scrape plates are annoying, this is ear-shattering.

sound slike a combination of a blown wheel cylinder, grinding shoes and a weak spring

but also possible the strut pissed oil everywhere, but I’m thinking brake fluid contaminated the shoes and they desenegraded
