squeaking sound coming from passenger side

I have a squeaking sound coming from passenger sound of my car, more of a creak, I think it is coming from somewhere around the wheels, I’m pretty sure it’s coming from the rear wheel. It seems to only squeak when I have it in 1st to 5th gear but not when I go in reverse. The sound also changes when I touch the brake peddle. Any ideas, I installed my spin knob yesterday, does that have anything to do with it? maybe? please guys I need some help, paying 100 bux just to have Nissan take a look at it is crappy, so I hope someone can help me.

Check the brake pads and the caliper sliding pins to make sure everything is moving freely.

sounds like its the rear brakes, are the rear brakes used when I hit the brakes or is it just the fronts. It’s the rears that are used when e-brake is on though(atleast I know that).

Yes the rear brake are used when you hit the brakes also, and when you put the ebrake on too.

seized rear calipers are a common problem.

having exact same problem with the squeak in 1st to 5th and not reverse, but it sounds like it is coming from the front… not seeing many grease nipples down there either. guess i am gunna have to take some stuff apart :E

i think your bearings need to be repacked thats what happened to me take the hole brake apart and repack the bearing my noise went away after i did this

Could be suspension bushings too. Hard to say without hearing it. The ‘not in reverse’ thing sure sounds like brakes though.

I will check the bearings this comnig weekend. Am also thinking about replacing the two front struts with new ones, maybethe rears to. Will have to see how much it will cost.
Thanks guys

I had the same problem, and it was the caliper pins that had completely dried up, causing the caliper piston to seize. I replaced the rear pads and greased up the pins again, and no more “squeek squeek squeek squeek”.

PS - pull the e-brake as your driving straight and see if the sound goes away. If it does its probably the same problem i had.

rear huh? guess I will have to check it all around :stuck_out_tongue:
