I was trying to switch rims today, and I have some aluminum “tuner” lug nuts. They are the thin type.
Well after trying to break lose after a while, they just snaped. 2 on one side of the car, 1 on the other side of the car.
wtf…
They are so broken that I cannot even get a socket on to unscrew them at all.
HELP!?! What do I do?
Here are pics of how broken they are.
You can see that the furthest lug nut to the left of the picture was about to break as well. I was lucky that it did not. You can also see how low down the lugs broke, thus I cannot get a socket on them.
I have tried to heat them up with a propane torch, but again I cannot get grip. I have also tried wd40.
Go to a local garage… I had the same problem, there is a socket that you can get from Snap-On, that is like a reverse female pipe thread… it will tighten as you spin it backwards… eventually removing the lug nut.
I bought a car wuth no lug key and I went to the local garage, they had one of these lug removers, it worked in seconds…
yea but before you go spray alot of ‘penetratic lube’ on them, not grease, stuff lik e’Loyds MOOVIT’ wworks perfect, it will make things for them 1000 times easier it makes shit breaks loose, but yea let a tire shop or garage do it, they sometimes damage the rims alittle though but what can ya do… good luck dude… been there…
