How long can I drive around on my spare tire?

I can’t get ahold of ANY rim repairs shops until Monday… from there I dunno if I am able to get in Monday and I have to drive to and from Nisku on the spare… Thats 40km round trip. I have a few questions…

How fast can I go on the tire? My manual says max 80km/h, the speed limit on Highway 2 is 110km/h so it’s kinda dangerous for me to be going so goddam slow on the highway. The tire is on the rear passenger and my vehicle is a front wheel drive so maybe since the tire is just along for the ride I can go faster? So I drove 20 km home on the tire, haven’t done any other driving whatsoever this weekend you think I’ll be alright driving to and from work tomorrow? Lastly, how much will driving on the tire fuck up my alignment?

If I can’t get the tire fixed Monday, I’m prob just gonna take the day off work Tuesday and get this shit dealt with…

I have a rental and have put 1000km on the spare already, did 140km from fort sask to south common the other day…No problems yet.

only supposed to go around 50km on a “donut” and not much faster than 80…but i mean, most cars in their entirety(sp?) arent meant to be drivin hard but we do it anyways, so i say fuck it. drive faster than 80 (not to much id stick around 95-100 if possible) and dont drive on it for long periods of time at high speeds and you should be alright.

Ok… I’ve done about 100km/h on my old spec v’s spare. 2 problems.

  1. you might notice your car pulling to 1 side
  2. you will wear your tires unevenly.

I got a flat on hwy 16 once and i was about 1.5hrs from hinton. Drove at about 100km’s and buy the time I got to hinton and had the tier fixed I really notcied the tire wear.

I would find someone with a Brembo Spec and get there spear. They are full sized spaers.

No they aren’t Ryan, at least mine isn’t! I have a white powdercoated space saver spare for my car.

well your not special enough…

If your worried about abnormal wear just replace all your tires with spares… KIDDING DO NOT DO THIS!

Good old Pursuit. Mmmmm burning brakes. :tonqe:

But yea you should be fine. Just try to drive the least possible and be carefull taking corners.

The spare in the Brembo Spec is a doughnut wheel but it is a 17" tire.

I survived roughly 100 km on it to and from work at 100km/h cruise control locked. Bought myself a stock 17" Sentra Rim and put a tire I had layen around on there til I can get my other rim fixed. 175$ to get rim/mount/balance got hosed alil but eh, was on a tight time frame so what can you do?
