How long do you let your car warm up in the morning?

If it’s warmer out I’ll wait about 10 seconds and than go with 2.5k shifts until the car is warmed up, or if it’s really cold out about 30 seconds with the same 2.5k shifts. If there is snow/ice on the car I’ll start it up and turn on my heated seat and go when I’m done scraping off the car.

i dont have anywhere to be at all really. im pretty much a bum

BUT when i do have somewhere to go i just get in the car and drive. light a smoke. they always taste better in the cold. once youre done smoking, well, blast that heat! open a window you scumbag!

haha I did this once, started it around 6am and fell asleep till 8am. eeesh.

thank god it was a diesel jetta, my gas gauge didn’t move at all.

5-10 mins. Same here for the sake of the turbo. Unless im late, 1 min and i barely get on the throttle till it warms up in 1st-2nd.

depends. for my forester, if i remember, i hit the remote start when i get out of the shower. if not, i just get in and go. i take it easy till its warm cause the trans is cranky and the pistons clack cause it has 225k on it.

for my turbododges, they dont get driven in the winter.

Brian

god, if i started my car when i got out of the shower, it’d be running for like an hour.

zero seconds

If I leave the car outside its a minimum of 5 minutes. The TDI takes forever to warmup :fu:

your what gauge?? :highfive:

Less than 30 seconds.

-start it up
-redline it for about 30 seconds with the clutch paritally in
-blast the cold air and radio
-do a line of cocaine
-then drive

lol. 15 min tops for me to get dressed, find my wallet, keys and phone and get some coffee and out the door. my wife on the other hand… more like an hour like you.

Brian

winter truck(piece of shit)-second i get in it. summer car-usually 30sec-min

Two hands, one for the key, one for the shifter.

lmao oops.

till i dont hear lifter tick

if there’s snow on it, i’ll fire the remote start after i let the dog in and start getting dressed to go outside just so the ice is easier to get off the front glass. otherwise not much. set the radio and drive.

Winter vehicle, i start it probly give it 10-30sec and pull out the drive way, i do drive slow under 2K until it is pretty warm, i never floor it or do anything dumb.

My Trans Am i give it a little longer but i keep it under 2K until completely warm.

my cavy gets to 195 temp within like 3minutes of driving, its great
talon takes like 2 hours

it depends on the car and season
warm weather i start up the car and let it idle for 30 seconds and take off

cold weather

something with forged internals i let it warm up a minute or 2

a normal car i will let it warm up 30 seconds and get on my way

i never “beat on it” untill its at operating temps due to the fact that cold idle ignition tables are always higher to help get the car up to temp

letting the car warm up for any longer than a minute or 2 is not good and only reason people do it is bc they dont like being cold in a car
