how many of you are actually still into cars?

There are TONS of cool ass fox builds IMO. Start building.

My project car would be a platform I’m not to into because it makes it so much easier to want to cut and hack. Thats where the fun is. lol

Cars, still enjoy.

Car people, for the most part, fucking hate.

I’m totally still into cars. I’ve owned like ~10 in the past year alone. I just had 5 cars but sold one to LZ. :snky: My 408 WS6 will be done in a week or so and I plan on having my vette done shortly after. Then I’ll get back at restoring my 73’ triumph bike. I still go to meets and LOVE the scene. Texas is a MECCA for racing and being in the scene.

Enjoy cars yes.
Enjoy car meets yes.
Enjoy reading about car stuff yes.

Back into building/ doing that cool shit/ pissing thousands of dollars away not so much at the moment.

If I could make money by destroying cars, I’d fucking do it in a heartbeat. I FUCKING HATE cars

agreed.

I’ve always liked stuff with motors in them. Weather it be a New Holland 2120 tractor or a Lambo. I drive a 2011 TDi sportwagen. It’s a great CAR. By CAR, I mean, a machine that does everything I expect it to do, with comfort and convenience. It’s rather “fun” to drive, meaning it’s not a total boring shitbox. Someday, I will prolly buy a “super fun” “sports car”. Maybe not. I have way more of a good time on my snowmachine or atv. If I do by a “sports car” it will be something fucking sweet though. I have no interest in building a siq car, but i’d rather buy a GT3 or some Ferrari and call it a day. Me and xwalkerx had a talk about this a while ago. That’s the route I’d take.

 We’re one in the same thought process. Once i started 4 wheeling/jet sking/snowmobiling, car stuff just doesn’t seem as fun anymore. lol

Having lived life literally revolving around cars I can say that I’m glad to not be involved in it the way I was.

There is so much more to life than just cars and if you find yourself being pigeon holed into one interest you will become one dimensional. I enjoy seeing well built cars but I’m extremely hard to impress so it’s rare that anything in the car scene does it for me anymore because most peoples standards and ability are horrid to say the least. Yes, they are, sorry.

I do enjoy being involved in building engines for a living. Being involved in an industry that allows me to learn, grow and improve my skills is truly rewarding. I have never enjoyed a job so much. I enjoy working on cars for people because they get top notch work at a discount rate and I can make money to pay my bills lol. I enjoy cars and bikes for the creativity and design factors.

The local car scene I grew up with has changed and that’s cool, it’s what it should do, the younger generation should take it up and keep it going. That’s a good thing. I’m happy to have met so many decent people doing what I do and I wouldn’t change that for anything in the world. However like everything in life, we must evolve and move forward.

I was heavily into cars but has since experience a decline because I am more interested in non-automotive things.

I am just interested with all types of vehicles - snowmobiles, jet skis, etc.

next to breathing it is the most essential part of my life

I enjoy building cars, and challenging myself. Cars do cost money, but I can say that except for the engine parts, and some hoses, that I built every part on my car.

I learned long ago that if you do something for the social aspects, you will be left very unhappy when the house lights turn on and the party is over, as it always ends. Sitting around on a summers night with a TIG torch in hand, making parts and building something has a personal value, and I could care less if anyone else likes it.

I’m sorry I have met very few of you guys in person, I hope that the glory days of mighty taco’s parking lot are over, and we can get some serious cars with some serious money making passes. But only those that love it will continue to do it. Everyone else just really liked those tacos.

Personally I’m out… But I’ll likely always be around them

I finally cleaned my garage after Doc built the countertop, yay wood working dust! When the cold breaks we should just sit and admire how deep my garage is compared to yours.

I was balls deep till I hit the line at the dealer… then I sold out, bought a new VW I didn’t have to work on (boy was I wrong), and traded that in on a Honda Element… a real rocketship of a vehicle. I was burnt out in 6 months in the dealer for having to stay late and working on my own shit. Every spring I’d almost cry uncle till I get to drive a few customer cars and it slowly melts away and somehow I make it another year in the field.

After 3 years of driving an uninspiring Subaru Legacy Outback, I finally moved into a funner, more agile Subaru Impreza Outback. The handling makes me miss auto-x days, but I think I am mostly out.

I’d rather be outside mountain biking during the spring, summer and fall and skiing during the winter than tinkering around with a car.

I think a problem I have seen in a lot of people is they act like if you are into cars you can not do other things. Or maybe they just do not have the means to have multiple hobbies and such. That is a bummer, I could not be into cars the way I am if I didn’t have a bunch of other interests that occupy my time when not in the mood for cars. I have seen this from many people that either were in debt over cars or just had projects that were much too ambitious. BALANCE!!!

Its not “cool” to be into cars anymore.

I agree with Drew in that one needs multiple hobbies in life, into cars or not.

I agree, but my personality type doesn’t much allow for balance. When I set out to do something, I give it 100% and devote all my resources to it, until completion. This does make me burned out on things, but if I’m gonna do it, imma do it to death.

You are more diversified in your interests then you give yourself credit for then. Finishing my FD is my main hobby right now among many. I would say the same about your skydiving. I am sure as hell that if it were 70 deg out you would come out longboarding with me. That is what I mean by balance as in having many other things you still enjoy even if they are not your main gig.

Music, art, skateboarding, running, sexing gf, calling Ian ethnic slurs are all examples of things I like to do when enjoying free time in my life aside from cars.
