hey guys, i just did an sr swap, and iv’e been flying around in it for 2 days and i cant seem to drive itl ike i did with the ka. Its fast and everything, but i cant seem to drift it in 3rd, nor 2nd, it just wont slide, i dont get whats wrong, engine seems to be running ok. I know its a turbo car and you gotta be in boost and i try my best to be in boost buti always end up doing a mile long burnout after the corner after gripping it mostly, i never clutch kick or ebrake. All i want to do is brake and feint, i dont even think about it, it use to be natural with the ka. Any tips onhow to adjust from ka to sr ? let me know guys. i always want to know how to launch it from first gear from the light…
if anyones wondernig yea i drifter before alot and i was ok at it…
rev the piss out of it ? heh
wonder how the rx8 guys are doing, they have almost no torque
lol hilarious thread.
how to drive an sr… HAHAHHAHA ha hheee
just keep practicing…
GT
Thats pretty much how you do it, REV it up and dump the clutch. Because the sr has some lag, you can’t just drop the hammer and make it slide. You can do that or use BOTH NUTS and carry more SPEED.
Good luck, and try not to break anything.

hahaha thinkin no comment, but;
won’t slide — check your tires, put shitty 15" on with 50psi, it’ll slide
drifting — boost effect around 3500-4000, try keeping it in the powerband or give the steering a jerk
how to launch — feather the clutch with a drop around 3000rpm
EDIT: Greg, you didn’t lock this? feeling ill?
takes getting use to Vlad. Power curve is alot different then the KA. But she’ll drift alot better
Keep it in boost.
Andrew.
power curve is ALOT different, darian let me try his car few months back and i couldnt get the hang of it. Much different way of driving.
shouldn’t have made this post on SON… lol…
either way, it’ll come naturally. stop being so impatient :x
bye bye KA …bye bye torque
enter 3rd gear sweeper at 120ish
brake
throw it
mbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
dori time!!!
this wasnt locked because i know a few people who have been able to drift rather well with ka’s but had to relearn a bit with boost.

doesn’t the SR start boosting around 2.5k rpm, and all the way till 4krpm you’ll be in full boost. or am i totally wrong.
it will start building boost at 2.5k but you wont have quick power response until upwards of 4k
so if ya it will build a bit of boost at 3k but it wont be instantaneous power.
thats the difference with turbo cars, you need to know how much power you’re going to have when you punch it - like an N/A car. but you ALSO need to know how long its going to take for boost to build, and how much power it will make when boost does build.
Punch it usually 1 second before you want power
so where as normally youd throw it and THEN punch it
you throw it and almost while you’re throwing it you punch it, sometimes with a touch of clutch kick if its a low speed corner.
I miss N/A power
Yeah, below 3k there really is no boost. My car hits full at 3800 and I still have some mods to do (FMIC, Blow off, 3" exhaust-currently 2.5)
It took me alittle while to get used to it, just starting to get more comfortable. This is my first turbo car. I find that a small flick on the clutch makes all the difference.
CVM07
ouch… I can see 7psi @ 2700 or 12psi @ 3200
only problem I’ve ever ran into with drifting the 240 with SR is no PS blows but other then that I never really a problem and actually find it easier to drift with the SR then the KA as the rear end will break lose much easier with the SR vs KA
Yeah Jedi,
Well okay you got me, there is boost, just not sure how much. I know that I get 11psi at 3800. I am running an .86 a/r GT28RS. So my turbo will be alittle higher then some (maybe 500 rpm) but when it’s in boost its pretty strong.
CVM07
yeah my boost comment was rather wide ranging. it really depends on a lot of things, piping diameter/length, turbo choice, IC
I personnally see full boost around 2700-3000rpm, but I’m using a volvo FMIC/rad and less than 2 feet of piping with stock T25
lol, I just assumed you were running on a stock turbo since you said you still need to upgrade all those other things etc etc…
I was on the stock T25 @ the time (so yea, it spools quicker) but once I throw on my new unit I wont have that benifit no more
Nope, still have lots of stuff to do. My Turbo blew up and there is no way I was just going to rebuild that P.O.S. When something breaks UPGRADE it. At least thats what I say.
CVM07
thanks alot guys
sasha im on it, im gonna try again and do the feint after im already waiting for boost
my main priority is to drift my car without haveing a ‘drift car setup’ like i used to, on normal tire pressure all aroudn, without having to clutch kick or ebrake, just like i use to be able to do it with the ka, i’ll let you all know how it goes, … thanks again
