ok ok, now before all of you jump on the dumbass bandwagon, I may not know everything about computers, but i’m no dummy. I figured since there are many “IT” people on here there might be a way. What I have found is that as soon as someone finds something that they know, but everyone else doesn’t, then the “get your own syndrome” starts. I was hoping that someone might know a workaround. Seeing as the last company I was with had minimal standards, I’m a little pissed about the restrictions.
In any case the IT guys have more stuff on their computer than anyone else in the office. Usually because they are at the top of the food chain, and who is really checking them anyway?
This is true, my PC is filled with company contraband but I can also fix whatever problems that contraband causes so it’s more of an exception than being naughty.
One thing to mention, if said IT person is caught giving you more rights than you have or something like that, depending on the hierarchy, he/she could get in deep shit.
Depending on how smart your IT department is, you could just install all the shit you want on a USB or firewire drive and just bring it with you to work, then plug it into your computer and running everything off of the external. Of course if you get caught, I don’t know shit.
And if I was your IT guy, I’d probably be a dick and lockdown your USB ports too.
my point is how many people say he should be doing work and not dicking around with tool bars and online music when these same people are wasting time online instead of doing work.
If you have a GHETTO network and don’t have a domain with no group policy…
lol you can just blank out the administrator’s account password
Find out first
Give us info :
OS (Windows XP Pro, etc)
domain? or no domain? when you press ctrl-alt-delete to log in, is there a third drop down menu that lets you select a domain? If so, there’s probably one that says : “XXXXXX (this computer)” if that’s the case, oooohhh shit you can do lots of stuff lol.
well, like everyone else said, probably not a good idea to install winamp and shit - you could get fucked, I’d read over your employee handbook if you have one.
I know that if I “get caught” IMming people using external IM (we have MSN messanger as an internal IM) from AIM or some shit like that, I can be terminated on the spot. But then again, I had my own office for a while, the likelyhood of anyone catching me was slim to none…
