They haven’t had taxes or government in Somalia in like 19 years. It’s working out really well for them. Give it a shot!
It helps getting bombed by foreign countries all the time.
I would gladly move to Saudi or UAE if I could get citizenship and a job there.
Taxes are ridiculous, I get 40% or so of my income reduced. In some European countries they’re even more screwed at 50% and more taxes but at least their infrastructure is more developed (and obviously so, Europe has a longer history despite the world wars).
On top of the fact that I get my money severely reduced surprises like this are what piss me off.
At the end of the day one could look at it as paying for certain service (unvolontarily) but the fact is to me I am not getting the damn service.
Hell if I moved to UAE or Saudi I’d get summer all year long, no taxes & great roads and not as much hassles about my car and a hell of a lot less crime.
Some of you look at it from a personal perspective of having lived in North America alone. I’ve lived in Europe, Africa and the middle east. The world is not a little bubble of how great we all are here. The unfortunate truth is the rest of the world has alot better shit in alot of different perspectives. We just think here we are the best.
The only benefit I can see staying in north america is not getting bombed all the time as we are like on an isolated island far away from everyone else.
Who gets bombed by foreign countries all the time?
You mentioned Somalia. Ethiopia, UN, AU, US, Kenya all actively politically bastardizing the region through invasion, bombing and warfare then blaming it on Somalis themselves (genius).
The moment there was established government and peace in the country, Ethiopia and the US started bullshit there. In fact the US bombed Mogadishu while I was on my honey moon with the wife in UAE. Western media covered nothing. Of course on top of that western media/governments keep repeating over and over again how Somalia has been without a working government for x number of years in order to undermine any Somali government and place their own puppet governments into power.
Dubai is 120 degrees and breakfast is $50 there. I’d rather pay the taxes.
I like 30-40celsius weather all year long. January is 15-25celsius coldest time of the year. I’ve lived even in Libya where record heat temperatures were recorded. I hate anything under 20celsius generally. I rather take that than -50 plus windchill and snow storms.
Breakfast is 50$ if you’re foolishly paying in high class restaurents/hotels where you get ripped off just cause you’re a white foreigner… lol… although the prices have gone up since 2003 (used to be MEGA cheap like most arab countries), it is still relatively cheaper living than here. Sadly though it’s become almost the same price wise on everything as things in the west and that has to do with the influx of western tourism/business/wanting to be more western (taking advantage of prices) amongst many other things. You can pay 100-200$ for breakfast in fancy restaurents in Canada as well if you look hard enough.
Saudi is still cheap on everything though. Food and life basics/essentials are beyond affordable. A few dollars can get you a hell of a lot of things unlike here where groceries will cost 200 bux a week even.
Meh, there are nicer buildings, architecurally, but that is pretty bad ass. I want to visit Dubai someday.
Personally I was not impressed by Dubai. Even Sharjah… although Sharjah is still okay. Well haven’t been there now in what 3 years I guess.
My wife and I visited all over but we chose to stay in 'Ajman. It reminded me of how I grew up too. Very peaceful and uncorrupted. Beautiful life.
Sharjah used to be the center place for family/nice housings, etc… and it still is but it kind of exploded with the influx of business and such, so apartment and business complex buildings are so many that the sun gets blocked out, really retarded.
Dubai at night felt literally like downtown Toronto but 10 times cleaner/more developed/newer/no homeless people. I was unimpressed because it’s just material things. They are destroying the traditional peaceful life style and just introducing the stressful workaholic all money environment that most westerners are accustomed to. It’s all business, money, show-offness, etc… Dubai is not a place to live unless you find downtown life the ‘norm’ but I don’t know why anyone would if they were shown the alternative that is stress free/relaxed.
What I did not like was alot of Khaliji arabs that are wanabe hardcore western, they are highly materialistic, noses up in the air, irrespectful of Islam just muslim by name, racist towards colored people including other Arabs who are slightly darker, cruel assholes, but they will kiss your white ass as a westerner though lol. I hated them. Horrible towards own people. Pathetic. However that does not mean all as a whole. The other spectrum is the traditional arabs as well as those who are practicing of islam who are very family oriented, respectful, friendly, honest, etc… So obviously I opted to stay in such areas
The buildings and infrastructure is the least that impressed me, it’s the traditional life style like most arab countries that is peaceful and comforting. Most Arab countries contrary to the ignorance of most western people are infrastructurally highly developed and advanced. It’s not just UAE (dubai, abu dhabi, etc…). They are just the most show off which is stupid. Any gulf countries, even african countries they have their roads, buildings all nicely built.
I like people that kiss my white ass.
How did this thread go from taxes, to where you feel like living in the next few years? And why does this always happen.
