i hate gm built cars

please tell me how it outperforms it, dont get me wrong, the gto is a nice car and all. I like them. I just dont think it performs as well

as much as I think the GTO is an ugly POS… it will outperform the M3… but id still rather have the M3 ANY day over the GTO. GTO has more power, but im not sure about handling, but then again who cares about handling?

not goin by mags, goin by manufacter, if that were true, then the best the new Z06 could run is a 12.2, we all know magazines give favortism to their top advertisers.

id still take the M3

do you have $51,000 for one?

I’d love to have a Ferrari Enzo, but I drive a Z06

no, but id take one over a GTO within this comparison

me too

champagne taste, beer pocket book you have

for the cost of the GTO, i’d buy a used M3.

total package > performance figures

no offence to the statistics but how many of you michael schumakers out there can drive the car that damn well? i’d say only quik could but hes not in this conversation!

and here i thought you meant the corvette. corvette is great if i wanted a car with a piece of shit plastic interior and was having my midlife crisis. the goat? pahleze… the only good thing about that car is the engine. the feeling of that car against the m3 leaves no comparison.

BMW is a much different car than any GM. the fact that the comparison was even brought up confuses me… the key point i can think of that distinguishes the two companies is the consumer. bmw makes what the consumer wants, while GM makes what they sell and expect the consumer to alter what they want to fit what they produce. you can see how that works out…

sorry man, bmw has shit on gm as far as performance. not saying the m3 isnt a good car, but its a pretty package with not much to deliver. I considered buying a used M3 for a daily driver, but found more bang for the buck in the GTO. Drive one, you’ll see… and calling it a run of the mill, GM surely tells me you have no clue wtf youre talking about, and are easily brainwashed by BMW marketing

and not saying I’m the end all to driving, because I still have my fair share to learn on a road course, but numbers in my sig arent to bad for an amateur

So until you’ve driven both with decent distance, thats when you can make a valid opinion on the subject. From how you speak it tells me you drove the M3 a lot, and GTO little to none. I’ve driven both, I bought one for a certain reason. I could afford either.

I know the reason why an M3 has a $20,000 price tag higher than a Goat. They were options I did not need.

and dont give me that BMW > * bullshit. They have more than their fair share of issues

only if it’s the ones you buy at the store and add your tequilla to the bucket

I have owned several BMW’s over the years. The early ones were superb. The later ones are yuppie specials designed to extract as many $$ as possible from fat wallets. Do they perform? No doubt. Are they overpiced for what the provide in terms of performance? Again, no doubt. Are they relatively unreliable when compared the typical Asian or American car in it’s price range? Yep. Are they expensive to repair? Damn right.
I am currently looking for a performance toy to play with. BMW will not be a consideration for me. Maybe a GTO would be. A Vette would not, becasue as much as i like them, i don’t need the “midlife crisis car” crap.

Too bad the M3 is missing the total package. I’ll even side w/ the M3 on performance. Sure it gets stomped straight-line but it will out-handle a GTO, no doubt. But they fall apart like it’s the thing to do. A buddy of mine bought a brand new '06, put 10k miles on it in 3 months, and got rid of it in favor of a C6. He had nothing but nagging little problems with it and the lack of torque killed the fun-factor when not driving it all-out. It’s always nice when your ~$60k car’s driver-side door won’t open and the subframe starts to tear out of the unibody.

So you’re going to let a few people making some jokes at your expense entirely rule-out a great car choice? Sounds like the smart move to me…

m3 and gto feel to identical to me in the handling dept

but im also to used to the z06

here comes comment thats true and will sure to piss a lot of you off

2007 GM Quality > 2007 BMW Quality

yes, but the BMW beats it hands down in the category of not being a piece of shit GM product.
