Idle problem

I am currently running a Blacktop S13 SR20DET. Do you guys know what controls the idle?

The problem I’m having is when I pushed the gas and let go, the rpm will drop below normal and close to stalling the car. Then it’ll bounce up and down a few times and become stable and normal again. This happens each time I push and let go on the throttle. (In neutral gear)

From my experience it seems like something to do with the throttle sensor or some idle control valve kind of thing. I have cleaned the Throttle butterfly and changed a fuel pump. Now the idle is higher than before. It still bounces a few times when I let go the throttle, but because the idle is higher now, it won’t drop enough to stall the car.

Anyone know how to fix this problem? Or does the SR20DET has like an idle control valve?

I’m having the exact same problem on a dohc KA. Should be the IACV, pretty sure the SR has one too.

Solarian - mine is a bit clogged I think - I see it hopping a bit once in a while when rpms drop.

If checking the IACV fails, try checking your maf.

I googled this for sr20 - it talks about testing & regrounding the maf…

I had a very similar problem and it was my B.O.V (greddy knock-off) Maybe you should see if its blowing air at idle… :?
