Inadequate lights ticket, how do I find out what the fine is?

I pulled out of a gas station in Rochester last weekend and forgot to turn on my headlights (oops). I was pulled over and received a “no/inadequate lights” ticket. I am obviously guilty, so I’m going to plead guilty.

My question is how do I find out how much the fine is to send in with the guilty plea? The ticket doesn’t list how much the fine amount is for this violation. I remember in the past I would just submit the guilty plea and receive a letter back saying how much the fine is but this ticket has instructions to send a check/money order for the fine along with the plea.

Do I still just send it in and wait for a letter back?

I would call up the Traffic Violations Plea Unit in Albany but I can’t find a number anywhere.

That’s a ‘fix-it’ ticket. You just go to a police station within I believe 24 or 48 hours, show an officer that your headlights work properly, he signs it off and you mail it in. Done and done.

eidt oh, you said last weekend…I think you’re sol now

yes a fix-it ticket but now send in not guilty…they may let you out with 25 ticket and 35 ser…

So an inadequate lights ticket is different than a “driving with your lights off” ticket?

it doesnt matter… you ALWAYS plead not guilty… chances are the pros. will probably just drop it or reduce the fine… driving with no lights on could be considered a moving violation and could net you 3 points under the OTHER category… your best bet is to go to court and find out exactly what your charged with

Bingo. It’s an equipment violation and is a no-point ticket even if you plead guilty but there’s no reason to do that.

probably will get reduced to a parking ticket or let go. plead not guilty unless you live far from the court. in which case is probably cheaper to pay full price then go to court.

You can mail in the plea, letter, and sign the judgment usually in a lot of courts now too. check to make sure. almost never plead guilty becuase as soon as you do, you really are at the mercy of the court what they want to do with you.

never plead guilty!!! even if you are guilty, pleading guilty doesnt mean that you are saying the cop was wrong, its just the legal way of going through the process.

is that kind of like how stores factor shoplifting into their prices… so if you don’t steal it’s like they’re getting something for free.

I kid, I kid…

Plea NOT GUILTY. NEVER EVER plea guilty.
